1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

WORST Doll Experience EVER

Apr 30, 2012

    1. This must be loosing two brand new Unoa chibi dolls in the mail.

    2. Oh that would kill me.

    3. Wow, seriously? What happened with the unoas? Did the USPS reimburse you?

    4. I have no idea what happend to the dolls, they dissapeard mid air from tracking. EMS reimbursed Crescent shop, Crescentshop got Araki to make me a new pair and Araki felt so set for me I got an extra pair of hands.

    5. At least things ended well, after all.

    6. Well, the only thing I can say that's gone wrong so far is my doll came to me over sanded or something and because of that has a light but permanent mark on her face from it. Sadly I'm too afraid to take anything to her body to attempt to fix it. She doesn't even have a face-up yet and I think a face-up might conceal the damaged area.

    7. Yeah, they endend well, but the entire process took over half a year.

Also, i cant stop wondering what happened to them. How can they board a plane but never get off? I lee[ having the idea that they are still tucked away in a loading dock somewhere.

    8. Yes, Autopsy.

I'm a medical doctor and have worked in several fields. First BJD I ever saw was when i worked in a psychiatric hospital, where one of the inpatients brought it with her.

    9. I thankfully haven't had anything horrible happen to my dolls. The only thing I would consider bad would be a bunch of pre-teens making fun of me when I went out to the park a week ago to do a photoshoot by myself. They made it a game to follow me and harass me, calling my boy a "barbie" and saying I was a child for having a doll, along with calling me a few choice words when I didn't feed into their BS.

    10. My worst experiences have been waiting over 8 months for Arcadia to make and send me some clothes I ordered, and Customhouse (Ai) taking over a year to send out a doll I bought from them. Also a parcel with some rare Volks clothes that I bought from Noppin went missing in the post. Noppin did refund my money but that set is gone forever - god knows where!

I also have to add - even though it didn't happen to ME - that seeing the deceit of Mijn Schatje and how she ripped off images from BJD owners (and Audrey Kawasaki etc etc) on here and Flickr and claimed it was all her original work made my blood boil. I could not believe that someone was getting money and praise for just totally copying other people's original work and ideas. I can't believe that someone could be such a fraud and so dishonest and not care!! It literally makes me feel sick. It still makes me so mad to think she is getting credit for "her work".

    11. Former undertaker here. :) I'll bet you get as many odd looks as I do.

Had a few, not many bad things happen doll wise. The first doll I ordered (not the first doll I got) was my Suntan Mettaa. Someone here on DoA ordered one around the same time, with a face up just like mine. He got his really quickly and mine wasn't even sent yet. I kept asking Dollmore what was wrong and they kept saying "shipping it next week... next week... next week..." It took another month after the other guy received his for mine to ship out. They wouldn't tell me why mine wasn't being shipped, just that there was a delay and it would be "next week". When he arrived I was so fed up with waiting I went off him and tried to sell him. Luckily no one bought him so I kept him, changed his name, took off his face up and now I love him to bits. So a happy ending.

I ordered a doll head from an artist, an off topic one, and when it arrived it was badly mishapen and the magnets were all covered in glue and it didn't close properly because of the head shape and the sticky magnets. The inside of the head had glue running all on the inside of it. Luckily the maker agreed to a refund and I returned the head but I was really upset as I'd been looking forward to it so much.

I did a full body blush on a doll once and when I came in out of the shed outside where I do my spraying the edge of my top came up and hit the wet spray and destroyed my artwork! (Word to the wise, wear tight fitting clothes when doing face ups and body blushing or else any loose parts flap around!) Just after that I sat her down to see what the damage was and accidentally scraped her on the edge of the table and took another section off her shoulder! In the end I took off all the body blushing and started again. Best thing I ever did, she looks much better than before and the first one is now like a trial run that helped me practice for the real thing. :)

    12. I was switching out the fantasy parts to human on my Soom Nor, and the elastic for the legs was too long for the human legs/feet to set properly, and the elastic for the human arms/hands was too short. I ended up getting the S-hook for the hands lodged into the arm, so I had to cut the elastic, and had to use shit elastic to restring the wings...sdkjhfjskhdfjkshdf I was about to do some sort of dolly related homicide -_-

    13. My worst doll experience ever was at the beginning of this hobby, when I let things get to me, took things too personally, and let myself actually begin to hate my first doll. Since then, I have managed to shake most of these feelings off me. Especially since 99.9% of the time, it's just me taking something the wrong way. I want to enjoy my dolls and I bought my first doll because I fell hard in love with him. I refuse to doubt my purchases and I refuse to not enjoy myself in this hobby. I am very glad that time period is over. :D

And my other one just happened last night. I'm not a master at retringing but I figured I had a good system down and I could avoid any nasty accidents. But, unfortunately, my BBB Apollo decided to show me I was wrong. LOL! Never restring when exhausted. I managed to hot-glue suede him very well and get his arms back together. Than I managed to make 5,000 mistakes while stringing his legs. It got to the point where my fingers got tired and sore and let go of his string and the s-hook where his foot attaches embedded itself in my finger. -_- Needless to say, I screamed and cried and panicked (since, for awhile, I couldn't lift it and I was all by myself and the pain was intense) but I managed to get it dislodged and also managed to not harm him and the wound isn't that bad. But, yes, now I know that how I was doing it works but I need further tools. Lesson learned! Especially since, under normal circumstances, restringing is not that hard. :D

    14. There aren't too many people in my area that are really into BJDs, so when I found another girl in my classes that had one we immediately both hit it off and started having tea-dates with our dolls. She mentioned a lot of 'dolly-racism' which made no sense to me since the whole hobby is about enjoying what works for each individual person.

My worst experience involved one of these tea-dates when a random woman came up to us to make much of our dolls, which was flattering. But then she asked what brand they were. Mine's a Volks El, my friend's is a Angel of Dream An. As soon as my friend said the brand the woman acted completely dismissive of her in the conversation and would only really talk to me about my doll. It was super offensive!

I love the little An - he's a super poser (better than my El), he's got a lovely face-up and always well dressed. Just because he cost less than mine doesn't make him any less precious or any less valid. Needless to say, we got rid of that nasty woman with some polite dismissals and enjoyed the rest of our tea.

    15. Just wanna say that's freaking awesome.

My worst experience is still the time my boy fell flat on his face up. I panicked.

    16. Volks El??? Can you show me this Volks El? To my knowledge Volks never made an El. CP/Luts had El.

    17. Probably the time when my big girl tipped over and took four other dolls with her off the shelf. @n@

    18. Fortunately I haven't had any problems with a company or shipping.

My worst experience was one of my husband's friends grabbing one of my DZ boys and basically swinging him around by his arm. I had to stop myself from slapping him. After I'd gotten him stop doing that, he grabbed one my floating heads that I had commissioned a faceup on, and began trying to rub it off with fingers! My husband was also pretty pissed since he bought me the one he was swinging around. Luckily no damage was done, and that guy is banned from our house.

After that incident I'm hesitant to show anyone my dolls in fear they will manhandle them. D:

    19. Oh boy… The worst experience/s- well thankfully for me are borne from frustration more than anything else.

I have an awful habit of playing ‘Musical Dolls’, which isthe process of finding a sculpt for a character and having nothing at all work. So far this game has been played with both characters-not-able-to-pick-a-sculpt (Parisma, my HP OC is now going for her fourth shelling as a MNF Mirwen.) and dolls who do-not-know-who-they-are. (My Iplehouse Ryan and my former Elf Shiwoo.)

The absolute worst experience I have ever had however was coming into the office to find my beautiful Soom Gena/F-Doll hybrid sprawled across the floor with her wig a tangled mess several feet away. My heart literally stopped for a moment before I rushed to retrieve her, the only thingI could think of being the very destroyed Littlest Pet Shops our new puppy had chewed to pieces the last time the cat decided to knock something off a shelf. Miraculously she was intact andher faceup still perfect. Her wig needed a good brushing but was otherwisesalvaged.

The kitty has since had –several- stern talkings to over whywe do –not- pull on/try to eat/try to run away with dolly boot-strings. U__u

    20. putting Takine's eyes in, was a nightmare, she's not the smallest dolls I own (the felix brownies or the dollzone momo take that cake) but its just how her eyes work, like any other doll but really small needless to say it took a full hour
