worst part of the sculpt?

Aug 22, 2008

    1. I'd have to say the eye sockets on bobobie. The resin isn't thinned out enough around the sockets so the eyes look like they are set way back into the head. I know I can thin it out with one of those tools -- but I'm lazy. The hands on the Sleethwater Briar. At first they bothered me, then I thought I got used to them. But when I compare them to Bobobie -- the Bobobie looks so slender and elegant. Briar = mandy man hands :) I'm waiting for Narae... I think those hands are going to continue to bother me.... I even thought of putting her on the marketplace! Yikes, they are not that bad.

    2. The only thing I don't like about my Kid Delf is the way his head sits. I don't know if it's the way the head itself is sculpted or the neck, but it's a bit of a bother. He can do straight ahead and down to the side, but can't do up for more than a second or so before his head snaps back down. While it was funny last night when I was trying to pose him and his head kept snapping back to the TV, I suspect it's going to annoy me later on.

I love my Resinsoul girl to bits, but one of her elbows pops out at a strange angle when you rotate her arm. No idea what's going on there.

I'm seconding the ribs issue. I can't decide if I want a Senior Delf Abadon or not because the body, while nice and ripped, desperately needs a sandwich. He has such a lovely strong face, so I'm conflicted. :S

    3. Oh, I know this one XD ! I love Blue Fairy so much, buuut... the hands for the female body sculpt are my biggest peeve about them XP ! Partly because of the pose they're set in, which I don't think is all too pretty but isn't so bad. But mostly because of how chubby and childish they look, because the fingers are too short and the palm is chubby. It's a small thing, but I looove admiring slim, pretty hands so much </3 . I don't mind the hands for the male, at least the Dandy body male, because the fingers seem long enough and are more sharp-knuckled (since it's a guy). But it's a small detail among an otherwise perfect-for-me doll, so I'll deal with it XD .

    4. For my Kid Delf, it has got to be the legs (darn kicky-leg syndrome). Before I thought of wiring or hot-glue sueding, I just had to have a Buddha-like patience to even stand him properly (as well as as cat-like reflexes in case he tips over) X(.

    5. On my BBB Weylin I would have to say his um..man parts. :sweat I swear it looks like someone got lazy and just rolled a hot dog and attached it.

    6. this thread ran away on me :XD:

Idella that's strange my kid delf doesn't have that problem :o but maybe it's because his head sculpt is different....

well with new addition to the family my dollmore/Luts hybrid has a bad neck/body connection but to be expected, and her hands are from different time so because of that one is super dainty and the other is like a rake in comparison xC other then that she's perfect xD;;; (a bit kicky and fussy but that's just her character)

k-doll Kasis :D i only wish his ears wore a bit bigger, and his hard to find eyes for because of how shallow his eye wells are ;u; but i'll manage overall i love him :aheartbea

    7. I love my resinsoul Lu's face sooo much but her body drives me crazy! It just can't pose for poo! The moment resinsoul improves their MSD bodies i'm picking up another in lilac for her!

    8. Hmmm, so far my poor boy Caleb got butt-plates (IH SE Luo) and they seem more hassling when working him into a pose, but otherwise are great once I can get him in a pose lol Though he has a cute butt, those plates are my least favorite next to the function of his knees...and granted his elbows don't look great but they pose good ^^;; *sigh* the sacrifice of looks for functionality.

    9. Personally, that's actually one thing I LOVE about the SoulDoll double-jointed bodies. I like the joint where it has the mid-piece becuase then you don't have such a gaping hole when the limbs are bent.

Anyway, my BBB/RS tinies both have absolutely zero wrist modility, almost to the point wehre it seems like the sculpters would have been fine just making the elbow down one piece. :sweat Also, their elbows and knees have the random habit of slipping out of joint. They needed some serious suading. 5/6 size is also the hardest wig size to shop for!

My MNF Scar Shiwoo, as gorgeous as he is, has a giant, gaping neck hole of doom that requires a very specific part from Fairyland to be properly attatched to any body. There's no possible way for an S-hook to be used, and a donut would make his head sit so low it would swallow his neck. Also, everyone complains about magnetic headcaps popping off, but the MNF headcap has zero magnets and actually has to be squeezed down to pop off.

    10. delf from Eluts have a one part torso. it LOOKS super NICE but its TERRIBLE to pose. AWFUL actually

    11. sahoma really :o? i have no problems with my body, the only thing he can't do is slouch and his knees like to "eat" pants

    12. his knee also eat my fingers TT_TT
but i think it is more troublesome with just one part. he doesnt stand so well and always seem to be falling to behing and it limits his poses.

    13. sahoma maybe his strung too tight or too loose? if anything delf boys are known for standing like rocks :0

    14. erm, i meant sit :sweat my bad
      he does stand well

    15. Fae (Soom Amber) is gorgeous and I love her, but I HATE that she can't sit. It's such a pain! I'm afraid that if I leave her standing with her hooves on, she'll fall and break her ears, but she can't sit because of those stupid (but beautiful) hooves. Her large size is also kind of annoying because she's hard to carry around and impossible to dress at a reasonable price.

Charlie (Beyla) can be kind of difficult to stand at first. It took me a while to get the balance of her hooves right. Other than that, she's absolutely perfect. :D

    16. sahoma lol ok, in my experience type 1 bodes sit worse then the type 3 (i don't think i have fiddled with a type 2) type 1 just refuse to do it sometimes D< i haven't had problems with my type 3 body tho

    17. I have an AoD MSD coming. They have a nice, average sculpt. Proportionate, settling. I just HATE that they have three torso/pelvis pieces. It makes her look like she has such a short torso! When in reality, it's full sized and nice and long.

If I half-close my eyes and blur everything though, SHE LOOKS LOVELY! XD

But compared to other dolls, she has ugly nasty knees. They are very flat and un-sculpted, as compared to lets say Leekeworld, or DoD.

    18. Oh boy, where to start :XD:

Luts type three body: my only complaint is that the elbows tend to slide so they don't hold poses as well as some of the others. Nothing sueding wouldn't fix, I'm just lazy :P
Otherwise it's a pretty fine body, imo, once the initial kickyness wears off.

Dollmore kid/pado: Little to no complaints, really. Hands down one of my favorite posers. His legs have been a little wonky lately, but I probably just need to restring him.

DOI kalix: Versatile sculpt and DOD did a great job with the grey skintone. Only complaint about the headmold is the lack of detail put into his ears :/ Body-wise...he may be one of my worst posers. If I leave him sitting and not propped up against anything he'll usually try to fall backwards, floppy legs so he can't get into a lot of poses (though he stands pretty solidly). Arms pose well but I don't really care for how his elbows look. Ankle and foot are one piece, so it looks really unnatural in certain poses.

Pipos Romi: Sooo tiny! XD Limited arm movement because of her tummy, but 1) it's to be expected, and 2) it doesn't bother me all that much.

DOT: Lack of detail in the T.Elf Sha's ears too. Same ankle issues as the DOI, but the body sculpt is pretty lovely otherwise and poses rather well; a little floppy, but I haven't wired, restrung, or sueded it.

      Soom supergem
: Body looks great but doesn't pose all that well. He seems really top heavy and has little feet, so sometimes it takes a bit of effort to get him to stand (and stay standing). I haven't played with this body a lot though, so the problems could just be due to my lack of experience.

      Soom Bygg
: I was in absolute awe when he posed so well out of the box, not even kidding. I spent a good 20 minutes just seeing what poses I could get him to do. And then I put his hooves on. Posing him got a lot harder (as expected) but was still good, it just takes some getting used to. I doubt he'll ever pose as well with the hooves on as with the human parts though.

Best to worst: soom teenie gem (bygg), dollmore kid, luts delf 3, DOT, DOI and Supergem tie, Pipos Romi

    19. Hrm . . . here goes:

Crobi M-line - no quick-release system for his hands, which are MASSIVE.

Volks SD10B - his default upper arms are disproportionately short. My particular boy doesn't like to stand unless he's bent forward at the waist o_o;, but he sits like a champ.

LUTS SSDF - I've just gotten this boy, so probably fooling around with him more will solve some problems, but he's got a rebellious upper torso. It doesn't want to sit on the middle torso correctly (other people have complained about this, too). At first he was ridiculously tight, and I restrung him too loose, so getting the tension right is bound to help . . . but I also find he feels lighter and more brittle than my other dolls and he makes me nervous that he'll break easily. Also, there are no option hands for him at all.

As for my other bodies (Volks MSD, SD13G, SD13G, YoSD), I think any of their issues could be solved with restringing, sueding, etc., so I really have no complaints with them ^^.

    20. Delf Boy Butt will be the death of me. I finally gave up and put my Yder in DOI pants so that he would stop popping his fly any time I sat him down. I'm also not a big fan of the lack of upper torso joint, or his inability to touch his face.

I love my Abio Angel Yi to pieces. He was my first doll. But I despise his hands, and I wish his eyewells weren't so deep, it's hell setting eyes properly and figuring out the right size and putty and oy!

DZ Mini GIANT feet. Where do I get shoes for that?!

I think that's it for my airing of dolly grievances. That was cathartic. :)
