worst part of the sculpt?

Aug 22, 2008

    1. Necks -- they are usually waaaaay to long...........................................

    2. Wooohooo a ranting thread!!!
I hate how EID heads will ONLY fit on EID bodies...
I think Delf El is a perfect sculpt if it weren't for those ridiculous chipmunk cheeks XD...
I hate how some delfs have this annoying tip on their nose that looks funny at some angle...
Luts has this style in their sdf/jdf/ssdf line that a lot of companies are copying that's getting really old...
And I don't like how some dolls from Dollzone have these eyes that make people call them 'autistic children'... even though I really really love DOllzone XD

      YAY FOR RANTING!<3

    3. I have an Iplehouse Mars. I used to think that his arms were too short, but they're not... he just has really long legs. I made him a longer shirt to help make them look a little shorter. I don't mind them, though, but I can't take pictures of him at certain angles because it makes his legs look even longer. I also don't like dolls with overly huge eyes.

    4. muzikluvr ah i know what you mean ;A; ! EID boys have such nice faces but they won't fit on anything else

Zilvarra i want a Mars but the knees is what bothers me , they have none :o maybe another hybrid....

    5. There are certain things about all my dolls I get picky about, but since that list can go on and on, here's just a few.

      -Musedoll boy body, the first full doll I ever bought. I love the proportions and the hands are awesome. But that stomach! Not Pretty! Luckily my boy is a model so I just say the stomach came from too much purging and maybe a couple unnecessary lipo procedures. XD;

-I love the kid delf body too (own 1), and I can live with the elbows, but the arms are just SO long. I have to bend her arms most of the time, because it just looks so weird to me.

-Volks Suwarikko MSD body... My Hewitt girl has one and it does sitting poses like a dream. Standing poses, however, are like a nightmare. Hoping some tighter stringing and sueding might help.

    6. DOD feet/ankles....they just look wrong....the angle and the ball part just look weird it freaks me out XD so my DOD boy always has socks XD *shudder*

    7. Ha! I second that!^^

      There's nothing about the head/face sculpts of the dolls I own that I dislike- they're all more or less perfect. I'm not too stoked about most of the doll bodies tho:: Custom House SD girl body has awfully porn star pointy nipples... old Volks SD10 bodies pose like a friggin nightmare... DollShe old bodies have that crazy popping torso-thing...etc etc etc ugh, the list goes on ;__;

    8. I love my Soul-kids Double Jointed body except for the knees. I don't mind her large bust but its kind of strange considering the majority of the 43cm dolls I've seen aren't so big chested. (Its not a problem for me, since I'll be sewing most of her clothes rather than buying)
And, on another note, she has humongous feet!

    9. My RS Feng's thigh's don't look that big...until you make clothes based on his waist measurement and find out that they don't fit!

And my RS Song's elf ears (which i love...they're part of the reason i bought him) they're unexpectedly solid and stabby...they hurt!

    10. I love my Soom MD guys, but they CANNOT sit, like on a couch arm or a lap, because of the fantasy legs.....urg.

    11. another doll so i'm updating :'D!

i recently came in to ownership of a Domuya sera (impulsively lol)

i have to say the default face up does NOTHING for it D: and it's hard to scrub off xD

it's a beautifully sculpted doll , but there is unbelievably limited positioning at the wrists and ankles D: and he bites xD i'm so glad i was wearing jeans when i re-strung him, or my legs would be covered in bruises from where the joints bit me @____@!

the head has a very funny elongated egg shape when the wig is off, but if it wasn't for that the 6-7 wigs would not sit well on it so i guess that can't be helped, and it's kinda growing on me

and he stands like rock, and the hands pose well (wrists aside) :'D

    12. Dolls I owned/own:

Lati Blues (boys): That waist joint? Does nothing (unmodified, anyways). Nada. It's basically a solid one-piece torso which is really disappointing because his arms and legs (arms especially, though both need to be sueded/wired) can take on a wide variety of really realistic poses, but that torso just screams "Hi. I am doll. I stand on bookshelf pretty. See me stand." and it's just uuhhhh... He can do an amazing proud standing pose.

... And that's about all he can do naturally because of it. There should've been some kind of sculpted locking mechanism in it because it's a reeaally inconvenient spot to put a joint in a doll because it just always snaps back into straight position.

Infiniti UID: The body is beautifully engineered, don't get me wrong. But there are a few things that bother me.... He's got super long legs. Which I currently don't mind because he's a chibi version of a 7-year-old, so the longer legs make sense (and makes the slightly lowriding pants look really cute). I mean, I know that these proportions are true for pretty much ever YoSD-sized doll but... They don't look 3-4. They just don't. The legs are far too long, and the torsos are too short.

Also, Tiki's upper lip protrudes a bit too far from his face. The only time it's visible is really only from profile view (which, to be frank, is a rather unflattering angle for the vast majority of dolls anyways) and it's nothing a little bit of sand paper can't fix, but still... It's a little annoying.

      Other dolls:

I wish Iplehouse's EID's and SID's didn't have an 8-pack. The rest of the doll is simply gorgeous, but I personally think that 8 packs look ugly on EVERYONE, humans or dolls.

On the other hand, I dislike pretty much every single other guy dolls' skinny little necks and weak, narrow shoulders and definitely prefer the EID/SID neck proportions to them. I mean, they look great with stylized dolls. But realistic face sculpts sitting a top a tiny narrow perch like that? Looks like a dashboard celebrity bobble-head.

I also don't like how some companies sculpt absolutely ginormo heads for small bodies. I like long, lithe limbs (8-9.5 heads for guys, 7-8.5 heads for girls) and "perfect" proportions. Thank god for hybriding.

    13. THIS for ever xD

    14. The three piece torso on my SSDF and MNF. It makes it a lot harder to make them stand up straight. Hot glue's fixed the SSDF up quite a bit, but the MNF seems designed to stand in dramatic poses, and never in a normal upright position . . . it feels like one leg is longer than the other, meant to be held out to one side slightly. Nrgle.

My Crobidoll Zack's ears. Fortunately they hide under his wig, but they are humongous.

MSDB and SD10B standard hands - they're just kinda dull.

Crobidoll M-line bodies: floppy legs. They have a tendency to collapse when I'm trying to dress them (on bigger dolls I have them stand up in front of me on the bed when I change their clothes). I think it's mainly that the elastic they come with could be stronger.

Iplehouse JID boy: The whole leg/butt thing doesn't work for me. How they sit makes his whole butt come out of his pants and takes some work just to get it done.

    15. Dolls I own, well first off is my ResinSoul Song. Now don't get me wrong, I love, love, LOVE my boy but from the side, something has always bothered me. His face just looks kinda... well flat. It looks odd. From the front he looks super cute and adorable. But for some reason every time I photograph him from a side view, his face looks like a persian cat. You know that whole 'I just ran into a brick wall and now I can't breath properly because my face is squashed like a ripe tomato' look. (I mean no offence to Persian cats either, I love them too,) I just hate the whole flat faced look my Song has sometimes...

My ResinSoul Mu/Dan hybrid. Again I love that boy. He's adorable and doesn't have that whole flat face thing going on that my Song does. BUT there is one small thing that bothers me about my boy, his thighs. The weird, fur type thing that the company sculpted on the back of his thighs. I dunno, it's nice because it makes them unique, but it also makes it hard for him to sit on a flat surface or a chair or something. It's not impossible as some people say, believe me I can get my RS boys to do things that people frequently tell me RS dolls CANNOT do, but it is hard to get him to do it and to do it whilst looking natural. I'm also just not totally a fan of the whole fur there thing either, I think it just looks odd. And ok, his cheeks are a little hamster pouch like, that kinda bothers me especially since I can't really do much about it because he's a dark tan and it would ruin his colour.

And finally my Iplehouse EID boy... Again, he's probably the one I love the most out of all my dolls so far. Unfair I know, but he's just so... so perfect! Except for one thing that is. Sitting, EID superhero bodies just cannot sit up unaided. And it sucks! I love the sculpting and the posing of his body, but I HATE how he cannot sit up and I can't really do the small mod I need to rectify the issue, because again tan doll and plus I'm too scared to ruin my $800 doll... He's the most expensive and will remain so and he's just so utterly perfect for Sarge that even thinking about doing something to mod him that could go spectacularly wrong makes my ulcer hurt... His hip part is just too low and shaped oddly. It gets in the way of his thighs so it makes sitting him up super difficult. That seriously bugs me, but I accepted it because no other doll was right for Sarge. Oh well ok so there are two things that bother me about him actually. His resin is perfectly smooth in most parts, but he has these small patches of mild roughness. Kinda bugs me.

I can't speak for any other dolls right now, I only own those three until my other 3 come in within the next two months or so. I needed to rant about that.

    16. I love to hate my Dollmore Dean, he's so adorable in his face that I cannot get rid of him, but he's got these rediculously tiny feet! I guess I could purchase replacement feet but I'm too lazy to go looking for feet (of all things).

I also have a long standing feud with my Souldoll Asiter. I have yet to find a wig for him that I like. He's had so many wigs that I'm getting to the end of any kind of desire to look anymore. I keep thinking that I should take a barber-course, just to cut his wig the right way.

    17. PD Tara: I love Avery, my PD Tara. I still think that she is the most beautiful doll I've ever seen in person. I only have one thing I really don't like about her. She has cankles, like really bad cankles. They are not nice to look at.. at all! I cover them up with cute shoes so at least it's an easy fix.

JID Vito: Conrad, my JID Vito is a total hunk. He has a beautiful posture that is so natural and a manly glorious body, but I do have a few issues with him. I think his face looks a little too young for his body and that his arms look short on his massive bod. These aren't too big of deal, but I still think about them sometimes.
Oh, and I hate his ankle joints. They're weird and they don't work well at all!

RS Wu & RS Rong: Letty and Sebastian are beautiful from head to toe.

    18. I cant stand the way my Dollmore Judiths torso is. IDK if its how she's been strung, but she constantly snaps back into this position that makes her look like a duck (chest out, butt out) and it reminds me of a girl that does the same thing to get attention.

    19. I have a Loongsoul boy body, which poses like a DREAM, but there are some things that look a little off about it. His long legs look really good in pictures, but in real life he looks sort of awkwardly lanky. It's kind of cute, but then you realize a real person with those proportions would be VERY tall. XD Not necessarily a bad thing, though it depends on the character... And he HAS to wear long shirts or else he looks even taller.

      Though that's just a little nitpicky thing. My main problem with his body is that his arms and legs seem normal...but then he has crazy abs! It's like...WHY? I'd rather have him be all squishy-looking or all muscley, not some odd combination of the two. >___>;;

Other annoying thing: his hands are by default sort of jazz hand-y. I don't mind them when I'm playing because they're fun and expressive, but when it comes to sewing clothes I have to be careful to make the sleeves wide or else I have to take his hands off just to dress him. XD

For sculpts I don't have, I'm not a big fan of certain bodies that look unhealthily thin, or heads that have incredibly large eyes. I like anime-inspired styles just fine, it's just...I don't really like the extremes.

    20. I love my Soom Euclase dearly, but I have to wonder what Soom was trying to accompish with his nose. It is insanely narrow and comes to a ridiculous point at the end. It looks like he's had a string of bad rhinoplasties.

Also, I really wish my Luts Abadon wouldn't look so darn melanchony all the time. I have seen some Abadons who look really fierce. Mine, despite his default faceup (which I have seen look amazingly confident) is the world's most frightened and depressed Abadon ever. Which totally fits his character, but I wish I could get some more expression out of him.
