Would/do your male dolls wear eyelashes?

Jan 7, 2011

    1. Besides the fact that "humans have eyelashes", I find dolls to be twice as attractive with eyelashes. Amazing how such a small detail could affect so much! But yes, if I had a male doll, he for sure would have eyelashes to wear. :)

    2. Nah, none of my guys wear eyelashes. They are already girly enough, and applying eyelashes will make them look more girlish. Eyelashes are a pain-in-the-ass to apply anyway. Seriously, they stick to my hand/eyes more than the eyehole themselves. Which is really frustrating so I dont bother with them XD

    3. My boy had eyelashes from the start, since he came with default face-up :3 Thus, something always bothered me about him, but I couldn't figure out what it was.
A couple of months ago I removed the lashes. And BAMM, those little bastards were the culprits, I realized that I kinda hated them :sigh Now that my boy doesn't have them, I find his face much much more manlier AND somewhat cheekier
And yeah, I DO know that human guys have lashes, of course they have... BUT they do NOT have such feminine and oh-so-perfectly-shaped faces. (I like those oh-so-perfectly-shaped faces of course, but I'm aware that usual guys do not look like that.) I vote for painted lashes :)

    4. I've looked at your dolls and Im suprised they are so good looking without eyelashes.

I dont have a boy yet but I know when I put eyelashes on him he will look overly girlish/ dragqueenish.

    5. i don't understand why you ask the question. (i'm not trying to be rude, i promise). but i just don't understand.

i put eyelashes on my male dolls for the same reason i give them faceups, or have them wear wigs. and for the same reasons i do those things for my female dolls. because i want my dolls to look "made up" and not blank.

i like dolls without eyelashes too, male and female.

i really have never thought about eyelashes being more feminine than masculine!

    6. Most of my boys have eyelashes, but lately, when I commission a faceup for them, I ask the artist to just paint lashes on, or to line/shadow the lids heavily to give the illusion of lashes being there. This isn't because I think lashes make boys look too girly. On the contrary, I love lashes on guys. I can't stand the "bald eyelid" look, so lashes are a must. I prefer painted-on lashes for the simple fact that they're a lot easier to take care of. With shaggy wigs, the fibers get caught in the lashes and can mangle them. Same with taking the dolls out; without a face mask, the lashes can get ruined. But if they're painted on I don't have to constantly worry about it. I can just wrap the dolls in a blanket without worrying about ruining their eyes.

I'd like to do the same thing with my girls, too, when I need to get them new faceups. As long as they all look like they have lashes (no bald eyes), then whether they actually do or not doesn't matter to me.

    7. All my dolls used to have lashes until I started doing my own face-ups. Now only Hansel keeps his because he's the most feminine of the group and with his company face-up, he looks fine the way he is. I'm not touching him. o-o;
Milo and Daolan on the other hand don't have lashes for two seperate but similar reasons. Daolan's old eyelashes blocked his eyes so you couldn't see their color nearly as well. It looked terrible in photos. His eyes always looked so dark and bland with the lashes in the way. Plus they were just way too girly.
Milo lost his because they didn't match his hair and nasty quality to begin with. They also looked kind of weird because they were way too long for a little boy. They also got in the way of his eyes in photos, but only when his head was tilted downwards. Still, kind of annoying for someone who loves the hell out of her doll's pretty glass eyes.
I also don't bother painting lashes on my dolls because I'm already bad enough with eyebrows. Because of that, my face-up style is a little more bold and cartoonish, but that's perfectly fine. Better for them to have no lashes at all as opposed to my awful, wobbly brushwork. s:

    8. I don't like gluing eyelashes just cause they're a pain to maintain so my boys that I've done face-ups on have no eyelashes. I don't like needing to worry about crushing them. Xd

But I do paint lower eyelashes on them and really quite like long ones. I'm fine if it does put my boys towards the girly side... I find androgyny attractive so it doesn't bother me.

    9. First I thought that Damon looks good without eyelashes. But once I decided to try and clued them. His eyes magically looked very human!! so I decided to leave them) some of my friends say, that long eyelashes look girlish, but as candy_coated said *I find androgyny attractive so it doesn't bother me.*

    10. My new RS Wu doesn't have eyelashes and I think he looks a bit -- well, unfinished. I'll have to fix that, I have lashes to install...

    11. i jsut like eyelashes, they make eyes look better in my opinion ^_^

    12. probably not.
my friend's doll has eyelashes and because of that, it's stressing to change her shirt. also, if my doll had lashes, I would need a face cover to protect them when I carry my dolls...
      too much trouble.
most of my dolls will never have applied lashes. only a few girls to make a very specific style.... and they would be veeeery long x)

    13. Some of mine do. The ones that don't tend to be the creepier looking dolls. I think dolls with eyelashes look more natural, so the ones without them have a certain kind of creepiness to them, which I really love :D Two of my boys have lower as well as upper 3D lashes and I think it looks much better than painted on, because you can see them from a 3/4 view too.

    14. All my male dolls have eye-lashes. Sometimes they get caught up in their wigs or clothing... But I just cannot imagine them without. Those are very short doll eye-lashes though. My girl dolls get longer ones.

    15. yeah my boy have eyelashes because i dont want him to look out of place and i dont want other people to say something bad about him without eyelashes

    16. One does and one doesn't. I like both either way, but I really prefer the eyelashes because it makes them a little more human looking... and it creeps people out! Hah! No, seriously, I do enjoy them either way, but I really can't see Lyr going without them. They tend to soften his face and I really tend to like that.

    17. My boy does have eyelashes. [somehow longer than my girl] But I like that ^0^

    18. My boys had eyelashes, but once their faceups were wiped, I never bothered to put any more on, because I think they look sort ridiculous on 1/4th dolls (or maybe just my dolls?). If I had a 1/3rd boy, though, I would definitely have eyelashes on him...

    19. Well, I don't currently have any boys, but I don't particularly like the look of eyelashes on dolls. I haven't seen any that seem natural and subtle enough and in scale.

    20. I know where you're coming from, haha. My boyfriend has better eyelashes than me :(

I don't have any boy dolls, but if I did, I'd definitely put lashes on them. Without them, they'd look unnatural, if you ask me.
