Would/do your male dolls wear eyelashes?

Jan 7, 2011

    1. My boys have lashes. My first arrived without and I just didn't think his eyes looked right, they didn't show his personality properly. Once he had them it was as if his face came to life :)
My other boy came with lashes, but they're not really noticable, they're very short compared to lovely long lashes his brother has.

    2. Yes. Human males have lashes, I don't see any reason why resin males should not.

    3. I bought my male dolly some lashes from the drugstore. Sure, these particular ones are a little feminine, but I like that. In general I'd like to see all dolls with eyelashes-I think it give them extra realism, making you think twice about whether they just blinked.

    4. I've never gotten a custom faceup done for my boys, but two of three of them came with eyelashes. I never thought otherwise of it, they make it seem more realistic. I never thought it was girly or anything o_O

    5. My boys not only have eyelashes, but they have double eyelashes. It's all about personal taste - for example I think any doll whether male or female look odd without lashes. Never once have I thought a male doll with lashes look girly in any way unless the doll in general already looked girly in other ways to begin with.

    6. They would if I weren't
A- too lazy to glue them in
B- too cheap to keep eyelashes around.

    7. Liam has nice russet brown lashes to match his beard and hair. Have not gotten any gray ones for Dorian, but as soon as I do he'll have little itty bitty lashes too... he is only a little gargoyle boy so the smaller the better.

    8. I think my doll looks extremely lifelike but he doesn't have eyelashes, except the ones painted on. But that's just me. ^^;

    9. Well... my dolls do wear them only they are drawn on with a water color pencil.

    10. Usually I like the boys that do not have the little eyelashes glued in, they make him look like a girl and so many molds make the men look femine to begin with. Sometimes I will see a boy who has eyelashes that I'll like.

I tottally get why for realisims sake one may want them, but still, I like manly looking men, right?

    11. My boy wears eyelashes. I imagine he'd look a bit weird, or like a chemo patient when wigless and that would make me sad.:(

    12. Yep. :) all of my boys wear eyelashes. It gives them more of that "complete" look. I guess I'm just used to seeing dolls with lashes. Also, I find that it gives them more expressive eyes, something I need when I'm taking pictures of them. A bjd can only do and look so much to some extent, so the lashes add drama and extra angles to take. :cheer

    13. For me, it depends on the doll. Some of my male dolls have eyelashes, others don't. Depends on the style/look/etc I'm going for.

    14. Some of my crew are pretty mature guys, and I find it really helps the intense-closeup level of realism to use doll lashes where the individual hairs are short, such as lower lashes might be in a human set, or even shorter. It helps to use a color that matches with that doll's overall coloring. It helps to use red or brown lashes on a ginger-tom type of guy, and white or blonde on a ghost character or pale blonde. Some companies sell long strips of consistent eyelash, where you cut the strip you need to fit the eye, and that's very helpful for some of the squintier-looking or half-shut eyes, or sleeping eyes. In real life, that nearly closed state is one where you would notice their eyelashes.

    15. Honestly I dont really notice? XD I dont really examine my dolls if they have eyelashes or not, I couldnt even tell you which ones do and dont off my head XP. I think that they have them, I dont know if I would notice if they didnt or not X.x

    16. Confession: I look at men's eyelashes all the time, including when their eyes are open. I don't think it's weird, either. It's one way to kill time in an elevator. His lashes are part of his face; I'm already checking him out to see if he's got nice eyes; and every time he moves his eyes, his eyelashes move too. So I take note of his lashes while I'm there. Truth: Guys with the thickest facial hair have the thickest most-fluttery eyelashes. Anyone who gets the 5-o'clock shadow before noon, they always have the best lashes. :kitty2: For my big muscular manly-man dolls who are Greek or Persian or North African characters, they've all got big fluttery black lashes too.

    17. My boy wears the same long, curly, fluffy eyelashes my girl does. The reason? I've met an abundance of guys IRL with nicer eyelashes than me.xD

    18. IRL, guys actually have longer eyelashes in average than girls.
I don't know though. I'm planning on getting male dolls, and they'll have eyelashes, but I don't know if I want those for my first doll, who's female. I guess I'll get them when I'm getting one of the dolls I've planned lashes for, order at the same time. I would get them if I found suitable ones in Finland, but there aren't many. For some reason people tend to use them themselves once they've been bought... -.-

    19. My boy haven't eyelashes

    20. Four of my seven male dolls have eyelashes. Only one is supposed to be without (because I like the harsh look he has); one other is a floating head so he won't get lashes until he's complete, and the other, I just haven't gotten around to putting lashes in yet ^^; I haven't found a pair I like for him.
