Would/do your male dolls wear eyelashes?

Jan 7, 2011

    1. Ahh, you reminded me of a man I used to know. He was dark-complected with dark hair and he did tend to get a bit scruffy. He had some of the thickest, most lush, gorgeous eyelashes I've ever seen on anyone.

I definitely think a male doll can pull off and look fabulous with eyelashes, and it makes them look more realistic to boot.

I don't have any big male dolls yet, but there's one I'd like to get, and I think I'd lean toward giving him some nice lashes.

    2. Speaking of the lashes of hirsute men: I recently read the funniest tidbit in an article about Chinese tourism... you know how travel agents will make up a list of areas that tourists should avoid in a city, and include tips & warnings about certain local dangers?... This particular Chinese agent included a specific warning about travelling in Italy, because Italian men "grow long eyelashes, which they flutter like fans at unsuspecting women". :whee: Danger danger! Molto pericoloso!

BJDs may not be able to move their eyelids, & thus flap their lashes like fans, but I do find that good lashes on a doll does increase his powers of seduction. ^^ It adds nuance to his gaze, and from some angles can even change it (or make it seem to change).

    3. I think it depends on the doll's 'personality'. If the doll is rather effeminate, then I would use lashes. However, if my doll is a rough and tough detective with a heart of gold and nothing to lose, I doubt I would use lashes ... Other than for comedic effect.

    4. I think I'd prefer my future male doll to have lashes. I just think that he'd be more complete with it..
And when he stands beside my (future) girls, I also think it'd look better and more realistic (I strive for the dolls to be mirrors of small humans) as they probably will have pretty lashes as well. I actually think I'd prefer all my dolls to have lashes no matter what character/personality, simply because it looks really good :)

    5. Well I figure that since most guys do have longer eyelashes than girls... why not?

    6. For my own character I try for a masculine face even if he already have a feminine one so no eyelashes for me. Its make the dolls that look girly way too girly...

    7. Actually, none of my dolls have eyelashes, and two of them are females.
It's more that I haven't gotten around to attaching them then anything else... but it kind of feels like they don't need them? I don't know, might sound strange, but I think my dolls are beautiful, and just not having eyelashes doesn't make them ugly or incomplete to me.
Also, I prefer putting clothes on over the head, instead of taking it off everytime, so that would probably cause a problem with lashes.
I'm not saying they'll never have eyelashes, but for now I'm fine with them the way they are.
So no. If/when I get another boy doll, I don't think he'll get eyelashes either.

    8. He has top eyelashes, the same as the girls, yes.

    9. I prefer my dolls to have upper eyelashes, with the bottom ones painted. For my males, I try to show their masculinity with their eyebrows, and a lesser gloss on their lips (although I've found no gloss makes them looks chapped). Not having upper eyelashes just looks odd to me, and seem to diminish the depth of the doll's face and expression.

    10. Yes my males do wearlashes generally , just because I like the way they look.

    11. When Bobobie sent me my Apollo, he had painted-on lashes only. To be honest, now that I have a male doll who doesn't have lashes on, I'm not that against a no-lash boy doll anymore. I still feel that, if I was doing my own face up, I would give the males eyelashes. I actually found it good that my doll didn't have eyelashes, just so that I wouldn't have to worry about hitting them when I was changing his shirts.

    12. I want all my boys to have eyelashes, but three of them don't because they came without eyelashes and I can't get up the nerve to try attaching some. I need to try practicing eyelash application on a blank head sometime. I don't think they look horrible without them, but I think the addition of eyelashes is always a good thing. Even if I had a really masculine guy, I'd still like him to have short upper eyelashes.

    13. My male doll has upper lashes, but no lower~
So he can look a little bit feminine but not too much. :3
      (Fits his character~)

    14. Mine all have lashes! Top lashes are actual, and bottom lashes are painted. I like it much more because lashes add a realistic and dimensional look.

    15. "Would/do your male dolls wear eyelashes?"

why not? after all men do have eyelashes! if you mean because they look feminine, i don't think so. I have male friends who have longer, thicker and more beautiful eyelashes than girls and I never thought they were feminine, I would only think: beautiful eyes! women only apply the make up, which in my opinion, looks horrible (I don't use make up because of it and I have short, thin eyelashes).

I don't see any problem with boy dolls having eyelashes, I want them to look normal so of course I want pretty, normal eyelashes for them.

    16. My male dolls have an eyelashes, not too long though, but sheikh has a very thick and black eyelashes, it's proper for his nationality.

    17. Ahaha, yes. My SD boy has crazy long, black eyelashes. Boys in real life have eyelashes, after all.

    18. I love eyelashes on both male and female dolls! <3 And boys with long eyelashes are friggin hot to me. lol

    19. I don't really care, whether they have lashes or not. If they don't leap to my eyes, they're fine, but I don't really think they need lashes. 5 of my dolls have lashes, 5 don't. Sometimes they just fall off and I don't reattach them, some came without face-up and I didn't bother with lashes after giving them a face-up. And two boys came with them, so I let them have lashes until they fall off. ^^

    20. I'm about to get my first doll (which means I still don't own one yet) but after an extensive research over the past few months I've already decided his character and even his face up and it includes eyelashes.
I want an AngelHeim Ryan and I want him to be as human as possible (that is, as human as a doll can look) and all man have eyelashes so...
On AngelHeim website, Ryan's default picture shows him with eyelashes already and I loved them. They seem kind of big but since he has some dark eyeshadow it actually makes the eyelashes look good on him.
However, if once I get him I start to think his eyelashes are way too big in person then I'll cut them short because I agree some male dolls look kind of girly with big eyelashes but I do think all dolls should have them nonetheless :)
