Would/do your male dolls wear eyelashes?

Jan 7, 2011

    1. I plan on painting his on. I just think actual eyelashes look a little to feminine and Icarus (my LUTS KDF ANI) is already very feminine looking as it is with his sweet face.

    2. In general I don't like the look of the false lashes. I have seen some that are well done (like on my factory face up Yo), but for the most part I feel it throws the scale off. That being said, even if I did find in scale lashes I probably would not put them on my male doll. he has a few lashes painted on his lower lid, but none on his upper and I really like the way this looks for a male doll. For my female doll I will probably paint lashes on both sides of her eyes.

    3. One of my boys has lashes because his face-up came that way, but on the whole, I'm not fond of false lashes. They seem to get in the way a lot. I much prefer them painted on.

    4. Yep. All my boys wear lashes. Not black though - that just looks like they're wearing mascara. There's just something about the way the lashes soften the upper lid that I really like - it really changes their expression and makes them look more realistic.

    5. Of course my male dolls have eyelashes. > u>; I mean, really, RL boys have them too, you know, (I have male friends that actually have longer eyelashes than mine -and I assure you mine are pretty long to begin with-) so I don;t see why my male dolls wouldn't have any?

    6. I dun have a boy yet, but when I do get one I'd want him to have eyelashes uvu It just looks better when photographed, but I wouldn't mind if they didn't have any either =v=a So it's like, I do want them but they are not a must.

    7. My boy doll has pretty long lashes painted on his lower lid, and came with some short, brownish lashes. They've since fallen out and I've gotten him false lashes. They are really long, but he already looks like a girl, so they don't make him any more feminine, and they fit with the painted on lashes.
I'd say that the more mature a male doll is, the shorter the lashes should be. I'd find no lashes a bit awkward, though, since more mature dolls are generally more realistic and the lack of lashes would ruin that image.

    8. Heck yes, like they have a wig also. I like to add as much 3-D as I can.

Edited to add: even if I only have a floating head Zura and a new DC colin. Still: lashes of the glued in variety are a must for me, for depth in the face.

    9. Of course. One of the most important aspects, in my opinion, is realism. In real life, men have eyelashes, so why wouldn't my male dolls?

    10. Yes, I find it very important to the look of dolls and they contribute to the realism. Now, big, thick, monstrous eyelashes for guys? Nope. Nice, thin and light ones for them.

    11. i usually use light brown or blonde lashes and trim them shorter for my boys, but i do put them in. i just think they look better than painted lashes, and they add that final touch to the faceup, IMO.

    12. If the doll has a dreaming/sleeping head I think eyelashes are a must, as for dolls with open eyes I like them better with eyelashes but it doesn't bother me if they don't have them.

    13. Yes, I would make male dolls wear eyelashes. It makes them look more realistic; after all, I don't know of many people without eyelashes.>_<
I don't think I would make them shorter/thinner just because they could come off as "less feminine" to some people. There are lots of men with very thick/long eyelashes. Also, I would give the doll black/dark eyelashes, unless he had light hair.(Just like how some blonds have lighter eyelashes and some people with darker hair have dark lashes)...:)

    14. Yep, I love boy dolls with eyelashes! Abel has really long ones. I think they suit him well. c: I love love love eyelashes on boy dolls because it makes them look so real, and gives them so much personality. Abe's a huge sweetie, and his long ones really help to make his expression more 'soft'.

    15. I plan on giving my boy Fenrir white or grayish eyelashes, the reason is to give him a more haunting beauty, for he is a white skinned chi and I view males with prominence eyelashes as quite attractive.

    16. My boy has eyelashes because he came out of the box with his eyes and eyelashes already in his head. :) I like how he looks, and I haven't changed them yet.

    17. Once the lashes get here, all my boys will have them.

    18. I like for mine to have eyelashes. I personally think that dolls look a little odd without them, but I have seen a few that looked stunning and they didn't have them.

Though now that I am thinking about it, I may not give the faun I am planning on making eyelashes...

    19. I'd really rather all my dolls have lashes. I think it makes them look more realistic and expressive and ... they just look odd without them, really! Also my current doll has lashes and any future dolls I get would look odd next to her if they didn't.
Additionally, I think the eyes are really the most important part of bringing a doll to "life." I shell out for expensive urethane eyes, I want some gorgeous lashes to draw attention to them and complete the effect.

I am kind of stressing about it, tbh, because I bought an un-face-uped doll from Soom and I'm trying to find good lashes to send with his head to whatever face-up artist I decide on.. and I have no idea what lashes would be good. Dx

    20. Well...my first doll didn't come with eyelashes in his head, (they were seperate) and I didn't bother to put them in. As for my second male doll, I plucked his eyelashes out. So...yeah. Me no likey eyelash on boy dolls...UNLESS...UNLESS it's a tiny.
