Would/do your male dolls wear eyelashes?

Jan 7, 2011

    1. About two thirds of my males have applied eyelashes. Most of my guys have stayed the same way they came from the factory. However, if they don't have applied lashes, I want some color on their upper eyelids so they don't have that odd colorless look. Especially if they have painted lower lashes!

My Hong arrived with lashes from the factory, but it frustrated me that I couldn't see even the color of his eyes through them! So I removed them. His default faceup has bold dark eyeliner, so the tops of his eyes don't have that colorless look.

Two of my Volks guys have long lashes, and I don't think it makes them look girly at all. That has never been an issue for me. I like how lashes look on my guys, but if they've never had them, I don't miss them.

    2. Why wouldn't eyelashes on male dolls seem natural? Eyelashes are a human being thing, not a 'girl' thing.

A couple of my dolls don't have eyelashes. I took the eyelashes off of two of my boys because I only want eyeliner on the one guy, and the other had way too heavy lashes for his small eye holes, and you couldn't see his eyes. My one girl doll does not have eyelashes because I bought her as a blank head. I picked some up at a beauty shop today. We'll see how it goes.

    3. I have 4 male dolls and only one has fake eyelashes attached. 2 of the guys are heavily stylized and don't have any sort of eye lashes, instead they have eye liner defining the top lid of their eye. One of my guys has some lower lashes painted on but no top lashes at all, and the one that does have lashes came to me second hand with his factory faceup...he is also a child.

As far as they "why" I generally don't like the look of fake eyelashes on my male dolls. For the two that are stylized lashes would get in the way of their makeup and for the other one I left the eye lashes off in an effort to help him appear more masculine.

    4. Grrrrr...most of the men I know have longer/curlier/darker eyelashes than I have! Although the male sculpts are quite feminine to begin with, I would still go for lashes, but has them denser/shorter/stubbier. I think it also depends on the sculpt especially with a lot of the males having quite narrow eye holes. On those, I would probably select not to go with lashes.

    5. I personally think it depends more on the sculpt and the face-up than it does the gender of the doll. Some look good with lashes, others don't. I've seen a few male doll molds that I honestly can't picture WITHOUT lashes.

    6. I like my boys to have lashes it gives them a finishing touch, but it's optional, like painting their nails!

    7. I only have one boy but he does have lashes. He'd look really strange to me without them.

    8. All but 2 of my males have eyelashes. They don't due to fact they are alien/human hybrids and body hair is not even on face is low. Only lower lashes drawn. No eyebrows or upper lashes.

    9. I would do it because male humans have eyelashes, as everyone's already stated. I would probably do it either way because I like my men to look slightly feminine :P

    10. I love eye lashes, but Florian, my RS Mai, simply cannot have him. I have a terrible time getting any light to reflect in his eyes at all, and it was even worse in the time that he haaad lashes. But I may try again with lighter ones. I gave Jezabel, my DZ Ying, lashes, and they look great on him.
I wonder if Florian just needs lighter ones.

So, yes, I'm an eyelash person on guys, they just shooould have 'em. :3

    11. I love male dolls with lashes =)
It make them look more gentle, maybe even a bit feminine, but more real too!
For male dolls, I would use the average-looking/not-too-long-or-curled lash. Unless, I wanted him to cross dress or have a faceup for a certain character, I would use the most normal/average/not-as-dramatic lashes I can get my hands on.

    12. I like lashes on all my dolls, male and female. I've found that some dolls tend to have a weird, stare-y look when they don't have lashes softening the edge of the upper lid.

That said, I usually choose shorter, less thick styles for my guys (though I'm not a fan of super long lashes on my girls, either). For a natural faceup, I'll usually use brown, rather than black - so you get they eyelash texture, but they don't look like they're wearing mascara. Fantasy faceups are another story... I like using coordinating colors for those.

    13. My boy Isaac came stock from Impldoll with eyelashes, and I love how he looks with them. My other boy did not come with them and I am thinking about putting them on him, because the eyelashes make them more realistic :)

    14. Almost all of my dolls (which are all male) have eyelashes. Like other people said before it does make them look more realistic/lively. But I have a mix and match batch when it comes to eyelashes
They kind of match their personalities. Three of them have short "guy" lashes, one has really long femmy lashes since it's part of his personality and the other one only has lower lashes (long ones). The one guy that does not have them, does not need them. He looks better without them, since they look very awkward on his tiny head.

    15. I want all my dolls have eyelashes, even boys. Just ordered Dikadoll Autumn and i want colors on he`s eyelashes, maybe purple or lila but only outer corner.

    16. Yes they would. I don't see why not honestly. Though i wouldn't have them wear them as thick or extravagant as i would on my girls.

    17. My Bubbles arrived with eyelashes already on. They just didn't suit him, some guys they look great on but they started bugging me. I have now safely removed them and I'm amazed how much better he looks (to me) his eyes are much more open now :D

    18. The only one of my dolls that actually has eyelashes installed is my MSD boy, because he has a factory faceup and came with them. I've actually been thinking about removing them, but I don't want to damage his eye makeup...

    19. My boys don't have lashes. Michael already looks girly and I think lashes would be just....over the top. Paul never had lashes, and I can't picture him with them.

Personally, I think it depends a lot on the sculpt, and also the look you're going for.

    20. I would want my boys to have lashes simply because I'd feel like something is missing if they didn't. It'd make me uncomfortable every time I looked at them. There are just certain features I'm too accustomed to seeing on human faces to be able to leave off of a doll. However, I wouldn't want them to be as long as girls lashes; scissors are my friends. Maybe if it was a fantasy doll (like an elf or somesuch) with a very fancy face-up, I wouldn't feel so bad about leaving the lashes off.
