Would/do your male dolls wear eyelashes?

Jan 7, 2011

    1. I believe male dolls should be able to have eyelashes! My boyfriend has much longer and thicker eyelashes than me! Haha! Why not?

    2. Of course they have them! I think they might look odd without them.

    3. i would add eye lashes but maybe short or middle. I generally prefer the short ones for female and male but it depends on the head. Some Heads look better without lashes.

    4. Sure they should have eyelashes! Because it looks more realistic to me.

    5. Kadan, my MSD boy, has lashes, he came with them, and I think they make him more realistic (people of all genders have eyelashes!) and give him a sense of innocence and gentleness... which helps show his sweet personality.

    6. Yeah mine do, They'd look out of place against the girls if not.

    7. I like eyelashes. As long as they aren't too long male dolls can still look like guys.

    8. the longest eyelashes i ever saw were my husbands. go figure. and he did not look girly. boy dolls can have eyelashes. i have seen one or two sculpts that didn't really need them (key word need: as in from an art stand point) but it helps with realism. and long, short, medium is simply up to the character.

    9. Your husband is not a BJD. BJDs have big eyes making their eyelashes more prominent. They also often have girly shaped faces. Giving them long lashes will make them look girlier as it is immidiatly noticeable with their big eyes, while it wouldn't be with a real guy.

    10. I can't really generalize my decisions towards putting eyelashes on male dolls because it really depends on the dolls personal style and personality to me! I would put on some really long eyelashes on a very flamboyant male doll but I may do the same for a masculine doll if he had a soft side to him or was just somewhat of a pretty boy! However, having an eyelashless doll can give a very romantic, somewhat feminine aura.

    11. Actually most of my dolls-male and female-are not going to have eyelashes at all because their characters were tampered with biologically, and a side effect seemed to be the loss of the eyelashes, which makes them look very peculiar when compared to normal humans.

Dolls of mine-male or female-that's characters will be normal humans *will* have eyelashes, since eyelashes are something we all have. I may alter eyelashes if they don't suit the doll's overall look, but masculinity or femininity won't really have anything to do with it.

    12. Everyone has eyelashes.... besides I like men with long eyelashes ^^

    13. I boy doll does indeed wear eyelashes. But that is only because it came on him with his default face-up. Lol.
But I don't mind them, nor would I mind them not being there.
I think when it comes to these dolls with eyelashes or not they can still look very realistic.
In plenty of pictures you don't even realize they have eyelashes and they still look whoa!
I have another doll that doesn't have eyelashes and it doesn't bother me.
It's just not a think that you automatically notice, unless they're some insane eyelashes. Lol.
So, my one male does because he came with them. But I'm sure I'll get another male eventually that wont have any. And that'll be okay too.

And then I realized the whole painted face-up lashes. Lol. Which my boy does again have.
I just like the look of at least bottom painted eyelashes. Not crazy ones, subtle is good.
But again, even with those, especially in my boy, you don't even notice his painted lashes.

    14. Very simple for me - Nope. I know real people have eyelashes and guys can have very long eyelashes too sometimes, but for me, with most male dolls looking rather feminine already, I don't put eyelashes in my boys.

    15. Both of my SD's (Crobi LJ and DS wheatskin Evan) came with eyelashes, and I think they're great. My tiny Nissa doesn't have them, but I think she's too tiny to have anything more than her painted eyelashes.

    16. I think some collectors skip putting eyelashes on male dolls to help convey a sense of masculinity. That isn't to say boys don't have long, full eyelashes. There's something remotely feminine about long, flirtatious eyelashes. Perhaps it's because many women use mascara regularly and apply false eyelashes where as most men don't.

Either way, all my boy dolls had eyelashes. I think most dolls look odd, to me at least, without them.

    17. Depends on the doll. Currently none of my dolls have eyelashes and it doesn't bother me a bit. Sometimes I wonder how they'd look with them though. *Shrugs* Maybe I'll get a pair and test them out, but for now, meh.

    18. Sure, if they don't get too long feminine eyelashes. I love male dolls with eyelashes, but I prefer quite subtle shorter ones. I use eyelashes for all my boys, except my BlueFairys. They came without and even I had bought and planned to attach eyelashes, I loved their look without so much.

    19. I only remembered to put eyelashes in one of my dolls and it's a boy. They've all had eyelashes at one point or another though, I don't see why "real people have eyelashes" isn't a good enough reason. The only instance you really see girls having eyelashes and boys not having them are cartoons for young children where the only way you can tell genders apart is that the girls have eyelashes and a bow. (ex: Mickey and Minnie mouse)

    20. As long as you use specialty doll eyelashes, which are designed proportionately to a doll's face, they won't look too feminine on a male doll. Just don't use store bought human eyelashes, those only work for fantasy characters. ;)
