Would/do your male dolls wear eyelashes?

Jan 7, 2011

    1. My female doll doesn't even use eyelashes and I don't think that will change any time soon. I haven't found any eyelashes that I really like (I really like some that I've seen on dolls but don't know where they came from) so it isn't something I actively think about. I don't think that any male dolls I get in the future will have them but if he came with them in already I don't think I would mind enough to take them out.

    2. Uhm.... Yes! Not to repeat what most people seem to be saying, but men have eyelashes too. I guess I hadn't even thought that someone would maybe not want to have them on their male dolls.

    3. I just prefer for my dolls to have eyelashes. There's no real reason to it other than that and I don't see why not.

    4. Yeah, mine does. And he looks gorgeous with them.

    5. All of mine do, aside from one (they fell out ;) ). Since they represent my characters and they all have eyelashes, I would feel a bit weird if they didn't have them.

    6. One of my boys was without eyelashes for quite a while - I'd done his face-up and I thought he didn't really need lashes. Then at one point I decided to glue some in anyway, and - well, that kind of completes his face. The only two dolls who remain without eyelashes are my 16-cm tinies, because lashes quickly look too long on them, and I don't like really long or exaggerated lashes. All of my dolls have relatively short lashes. They are mostly medieval characters, so it is okay if they wear eyeliner, but mascara would be a big no-no ;)...

    7. I think it depends on what sort of look you would like them to have.

I like thick, pretty eyelashes on my girls and boys :3

    8. Mine does. I never considered having eyelashes a girl/boy thing. As long as they look natural, I'm fine with them on my dolls.

    9. I actually prefer the look of solely painted-on lashes for boy dolls, though I don't see any reason why a boy doll shouldn't or couldn't have additional lashes glued in? I've known plenty of guys with lashes almost twice as long as mine.

    10. The one doll I have does have eyelashes, this is simply because he came with them and they make him look cute! As for a more mature doll, I would most likely not have them wear eyelashes.

    11. Truth be told, I used to dislike eyelashes on bjds altogether, until my Drayton came to me with the factory faceup and glued lashes. As much as I hated the boring paint, so I chnaged it, but I fell for the lashes and ever since that time he's got a pair glued in:) But, he's the only one who has them. Apart from him, I also have two female dolls and I can't imagine them having any lashes. I just like keeping my boy flamboyant, that's all:))

    12. One of my boys has no eyelashes, the others do. I like the short bottom eyelashes that Kemper makes, for my boys. They are only 3- 4 mm long and look a lot more in scale for dolls anyway. Most people eyelashes and doll eyelashes are unrealistically long and way too thick to be realistic.

    13. I think the eyelashes add a little extra realism to already realistic dolls. Personally, I am fine with eyelashes or no eyelashes, though I do think that the eyelashes make doll eyes look more complete. :)

    14. I used to love eyelashes on all of my dolls but now I think most of the boys do look better without. That's more to do with sculpt and personal preference, though.

    15. None of my boys do (except my boy who is a girl =S) but I think if that is the look you're going for why not. I'm sure if it is done right it would look cool, plus sometimes the boys need to be a little feminine.

    16. I think only about half my male dolls wear eyelashes. In my personal taste it depends on the sculpt, and how I think eyelashes suit the flavor of each character. Sometimes I feel they are inevitably too feminine on the doll for what I want and I omit them because it doesn't bother me to go without.

    17. I think lashes add a touch of life to dolla, so I'm currently planning on getting my Lance a set. It makes them feel more real, I think. I wouldn't put lashes on most animal sculpts, but yes for masculine sculpts.

    18. All of my dolls have eyelashes except my two DollChateau boys; Iubi (DC Merlin) and Riddle (DC Larry). I like them without eyelashes but I feel like all my other dolls would look strange without them :sweat

    19. Absolutely, eyelashes are such an important finishing touch.

    20. Erm...
I would put them on precisely because I do have eyelashes. Ridiculously curly ones at that. Sometimes it makes me wonder what blueprint my body was reading in the amniotic fluid...

I digress. Even though my dolls take the stylized approach to mimicking the form of a human being, I prefer for some of those things to not get lost in translation as long as it doesn't look tacky. Like anything else, it's important to get the ones that emphasize the doll in the direction you want to take its appearance.
