Would/do your male dolls wear eyelashes?

Jan 7, 2011

    1. Yeppers, all my guys are gonna have them (I only have one right now and he has lovely white lashes from DollZone). Personally, I like the look of lashes on all my dolls regardless of gender.

    2. I have two boys, one has them and one doesn't. One reason is that is the way they both came to me. However, I feel like many who have already responded, that it adds a bit a realism to the face that just otherwise isn't there. Also I think it depends from doll to doll and faceup to faceup. There are some faceups that you just don't need to add lashes to.

    3. For me eyelashes is not an option, I really love dolls more with them. Boys have a glare so much more expressive ! *0* (Okay I don't have any boy bjd but soon ... Soon ! ;~; )
But too many times I think lashes are too long, black or visible.
Personally I use my birds' feathers, it's a little difficult to glue (I need some practice ><) but I think it's more natural.

    4. I just prefer dolls with eyelashes, whether they are short or long. I don't really think it makes them look more feminine or all that different. To me it is kind of a cool part of the face up, and it also is in the details that makes my non-bjd friends realize these aren't stereotypical dolls. Although I don't like when a bottom lash is glued on, I definitely prefer the bottom lashes painted/drawn on.

    5. I have one completed msd male doll and and an sd head. Neither of them have eyelashes. The smaller boy is going to stay without lashes but I am considering adding them to Eden (sd head) when his body and clothing arrives. I think I need to see what he is like 'together' before making the final decision on possibly adding any eyelashes.

    6. It's really not to my taste when people leave off or minimize lashes in an attempt to make their boy dolls look more masculine. So yes, all of mine have lashes. I do tend to use much more bold, obvious ones on my girls who look like they should be wearing lots of makeup though.

    7. I think I'd be okay in theory with my male dolls going without lashes, but for whatever reason it really bothers me if not all of my dolls have them, regardless of gender? I think a faceup just doesn't feel complete without them.

    8. one of my male dolls has eyelashes and i think he looks okay with them. theyre everyones personal prefference but i dont mind them. I wish more of my dolls had eyelashes since i actually enjoy them :) i like short ones for my males, and longer ones for my females.

    9. I agree with that. I feel odd what they dont have them but thats just me. I agree with it completing the faceup :)

    10. I'd give my boys eyelashes!
Eyelashes give a completed look to a doll and really make the difference in photos. I prefer more feminine, "pretty boys" but even if I got a masculine sculpt, I'd still give him eyelashes.

    11. I feel like some males look good with eyelashes while others don't. For my boys, I will probably put eyelashes on most of them. but they will probably have shorter or more natural colored lashes. Unless I have a doll who has black hair, I don't ever see myself putting black lashes on a boy.

    12. I just think the eyelashespull the dolls together. But thats just how i see it :)

    13. Of course. Some will have longer eyelashes than others, but all of my dolls will have them. It would look odd if the boys didn't.

    14. I agree :)

    15. I'm planning on my male dolls having eyelashes. I just feel like it completes their look.

    16. My one boy has eyelashes and I wouldn't change them at all! And I think that I'd dislike dolls without eyelashes, as if they'd look weird, but it actually doesn't look bad at all! My friend prefers her collection without eyelashes and her boys never look unfinished or unrealistic.

    17. I don't have a male doll, but if I did I might put eyelashes on him, it really depends on the sculpt, face up, how real your trying to get the doll to look and even the eyelashes themselves. For me they would need to be short barely noticeable, unlike my girls who I prefer longer lashes on.

    18. I think eyelashes are lovely but somehow... optional. Partly because I find them very frustrating to put in, and I mostly do my own faceups. With my girls, I've got one company faceup that came with lashes, one selfmade faceup that I put in doll lashes I saved from a porcelain doll, two selfmade faceups that I put in trimmed down human lashes, and one selfmade faceup that I sort of imitated lashes by applying superfine glitter matching her hair colour to the upper eyelids - that one had such narrow eyes that lashes would have probably made them look totally closed. My one boy doll that came with a company faceup had beautiful lashes, but one fell out and got damaged so I had to remove the other... and liked him better without them. None of my self-faceupped boys have ever had lashes. Even though I do think they can "finish" the look of eyes, at 1/4 scale (all my dolls are minis) I find them often out of proportion, more distractingly so on boys than on girls.

    19. I always add them on the males but sometimes I remove them from two of mine because they hide the irises due to having hooded/smaller eye sockets. Both look nice without, too. *Shrug* It's all preference.

    20. I don't oppose the idea of having a beautiful male doll, but for me, I will opt for a more masculine for male and natural look for both male and female doll. My first male doll should have eyelashes on but it'd be short like it should be on human. Its just there for the sake of being there because that's what I thought 'appropriate'. *giggles
