Would/do your male dolls wear eyelashes?

Jan 7, 2011

    1. Depends what looks better for their character. None of my dolls have face ups at the moment. But when the time comes I'll put on some lashes to see if it works or not.

    2. I like this one particular sculpt and I've seen different faceups for him, with eyelashes, without eyelashes and with painted on lashes as part of the faceup. I think all looked gorgeous so I wouldn't mind male bjd's having lashes as long as it suited the face :)

    3. My boy has eyelashes attached, and that's because those eyelashes came with him from his company faceup. Personally, I find it more realistic that way? Though I doubt I'd mind if he doesn't have any eyelashes on. The eyelashes can be a bit of a nuisance whenever I want the light to be reflected through his eyes, but then again they're a bit helpful in keeping my doll's fringe the way I want it to be.

    4. My boy will have eyelashes, but short and light brown. Absolutely without eyelashes it is difficult to present him.

    5. My boy doesn't have lashes currently, but it's because he didn't come with any. When I order some, he's definitely getting some put in. But that's just my preference, since I absolutely LOVE looking at doll lashes. :love

    6. I've currently sent six of my dolls to an artist to get them new face ups and I ordered lashes on all characters, girls and boys alike. I think it looks more real so I prefer when male dolls have eyelashes ><

    7. No,my boys don't wear eyelashes. Because one's a mouse person, and the rest are wizards.

    8. I'm with others, I want my boys to look real so eye lashes are always put on my boys!! They don't look finished to me if they don't have them.

    9. yes. I like to make my characters as realistic as possible. they just wont be long lashes

    10. I'm a fan of long lashes on men, i found it beautiful and absolutely not unrealistic, because if you look at arab men for example you find that their lashes are long and dense, and this doesn't look girly or disgusting. long lashes don't fit really masculine molds and i understand those who don't want lashes for their boys, but for my type lashes are just must have

    11. yes he does and it looks cute on him

    12. All mine have them, because I like them. I do tend to use shorter/plainer ones than I see on girls dolls. Except Thranduil, because he's based on Lee Pace, who has very long pretty eyelashes anyway! A lot of men do. Mascara aside, it's genetic! I don't wear make up, but I have ridiculous eyelashes that mean I have to get my glasses adjusted so they don't get in the way, and the men in my family are the same. So I think it's more about who the doll is meant to be, their character and aesthetic than gender.

    13. I can now say that at least a couple of my boys have eyelashes. And I love it. It really completes their looks. A couple of my others don't currently, for example the boy in my avatar, still doesn't however. And somehow with his faceup, I just don't know if it would look right. For me it depends on the faceup and the doll in question. But on the whole, I now prefer even my boy dolls with lashes whenever possible. XD

    14. I have I eyelashes, I'm male but have long eyelashes, my father has long eyelashes too. I don't know, but I don't really se why they wouldn't? I can see not having either with eyelashes if you have trouble not messing them up, or if it somehow clashes with their chosen aesthetic, but I don't really see either lashes or the length of them as being male/female specific.

I think if I picked not to have them it would have nothing to do with gender, and everything to do with the characters aesthetic.

    15. Yes I will let my face-up artist to add eyelash on my male doll.
Eyelash is very important for a doll like human, but maybe not too long for a male doll.

    16. The few male dolls with custom faceups I have don't wear the eyelashes, I'm preferring them being the men, with more masculine look (it's hard to achieve in BJDs I know xD). With some the dolls that wear the company faceup it's part of the idea for the guys to have the eyelashes, so I either like the whole faceup or I just don't get it - though I've heard about the people who remove the eyelashes after getting the doll with the company faceup (I wonder how hard it is, and if the faceup may be left undamaged in such situations...)

    17. I've seen a lot of pictures of male dolls without eyelashes and it personally doesn't bother me. I think my dolls with have them though since the few images I have seen with the eyelashes attached look down right gorgeous and can really give the doll character in my opinion.

    18. All of my boys have lashes. I don't think it takes away from their masculinity. Leon looks awesome with his lashes!

    19. I'm sorry, I didn't mean that the eyelashes on males mean something bad by any means, it really depends on the doll and character beyond it (if any). For me personally the Iplehouse male's beards and facial hair look only funny and not manly at all (the company faceups), so it's the matter of personal taste I guess. Though I wouldn't say that the eyelashes are a must for the male dolls' great faceup in my opinion, while the female faceup with no eyelashes wouldn't be very nice and well-done from my point of view. That's from what I've seen so far of course, possibly the girls with no eyelashes may be looking as awesome as the ones with them, in the right faceup artist's hands :)
