Would/do your male dolls wear eyelashes?

Jan 7, 2011

    1. I am so sorry! I was definitely not trying to be confrontational! I have issues with words sometimes and my response does sound a bit snarky... :eusa_sile I was attempting to respond to the debate over 'is it too feminine'. I agree with you 100% on the point of them not being necessary though.

    2. As I am not a face-up artist myself it's hard to say for sure if I am totally positive or negative about the guys' eyealshes - usually it's either the company faceup which I like completely or the artist's idea and vision on the character I describe (when the custom face-up is ordered for any of my dolls). So far I've had great understanding of the idea from the face-up artist who's doing the face-ups for me, so I totally believe in her vision and choice of whether to include the eyelashes for a guy or not :)

    3. Yes, of course...I think there's quite a different in the shape of eyelashes for girls and boys...Boys should definitely wear more natural looking lashes, while girls can wear the thicker and more dramatic eyelashes...

    4. I don't like any sort of facial hair on my dolls,as I'm rather fond of the bald faced look.
That being said,I'd have lashes on a male doll if I actually wanted them.

    5. My boy doll came with faceup, but no eyelashes. I thought he already looked great. I love the company faceup anyway. Then I tried applying trimmed human fake lashes on him. My reaction was, "Wow, I like your eyes better now." I think just like human, eyelashes define dolls' eyes. That's why some girls wear fake lashes all the time, or put on mascara, etc. My boy still has eyelashes now, and this one even longer than the first . It's hard to trim them, and I like how they curl, so yeah..

Oh, and I do know some guys IRL that really have long, thick, natural eyelashes, one of them is my boyfriend. I think they're beautiful. So, lashes on male dolls? Pretty!

    6. I'm getting my first male doll (hopefully) next year, and I plan on him having lashes. I think lashes add to the beauty of a doll. Then again, it also depends on the sculpt. I think for something like a Granado or an Iplehouse that have more "manly" sculpts, I'd either get short lashes or drop them altogether.

    7. I prefer all my dolls to have eyelashes. I just like the way their eyes look with the lashes. It just bothers me a little when I look at one of my dolls and they don't have eyelashes(I have two guys right now who really need some eye lashes).

    8. Of course. I like masculine sculpts so Im not worried about lashes being too feminine, and some guys do have great lashes. They create depth for the eye and add realism too.

    9. I plan to give all my dolls eyelashes, but I'm hoping to try animal fur, so they aren't so long and look less like extensions. I've seen it done with china dolls, and I hope it will work with BJDs.

    10. I make eyelashes for my males from natural painting brushes :) looks great every time

    11. Sometimes I like eyelashes on my male dolls and sometimes I don't. It depends on how they look on them.

    12. of course! eyelashes are so pretty, and guys usually have thicker eyelashes than girls anyway lol

    13. I guess it would depend on the face-up? Personally, I'd go for it, just not overly long like what I have for my girl doll.

    14. Definitelly depends on the sculpt for me and what kind of look ur going for

    15. Yes, I do like hair eyelashes with my male dolls but not as full and shorter length. More natural looking and can be in different natural colors that matches the hair crown color.:)

    16. One of the characters I have planned to shell into a doll would certainly have eyelashes - but he is suppose to be a very feminine boy so the reason is kinda given there.

More generally speaking I think for me it would depend on the character and how they would look with out without it. Reminds me that I need to do more research on that part.

    17. Aesthetically speaking, I really prefer all my male dolls to have eyelashes, regardless of their character or how well the faceup has done in creating painted eyelashes. It's not so bad when you're looking at the doll straight on, but the moment the head is turned or the doll is in profile, it just sort of looks weird.

    18. I don't have any male dolls yet, but I think lashes look nice especially especially if they're brown or blonde (depending on hair color) for a more natural/understated look.

    19. I definitely want my boys to have eyelashes. I mean, all humans have them, right? They probably wouldn't be super long it anything, just enough to be realistic. I really started noticing Aelic's lack of them the other day while taking portraits, and I feel like it's really help his realism to have some small eyelashes. Plus they're cute~

    20. I would put eyelashes on my male bjd :)
