Would/do your male dolls wear eyelashes?

Jan 7, 2011

    1. I think it depends; Does it suit his character/face-up?
I prefer that my guy has a eyelashes, not so flashy as my girls, but guys have eyelashes too :D Maybe not so long? Or maybe dark brown eyelashes so they don't look like they have makeup on their face :>

    2. The only boy I have with eye lashes is Johann Sebastian. I got him from Bobobie and they put in some free eye lashes. I thought I'd use them and they look great on him. It's just a few hairs, not a thick line like my girls are wearing.

I'd love to have some white eye lashes for Cirrus, since he's being the girliest of all my boys ;).

    3. ALL my dolls wear eyelashes, both upper AND lower eyelashes. The upper are trimmed to be more realistic depending on the character (some keep the human sized lashes because it reflects their personality nicely, while most others have them trimmed for realism), while bottom lashes are strictly kept short.
Each doll just has different styles based on the doll's personality and my vision of them. It has nothing to do with if my doll is male or female.
In fact, my Doll Chateau Stacy (Female) came WITHOUT lashes (she did come with a face-up, she was preowned) and while she looks amazing without eyelashes, I'll likely add short or spare eyelashes for a more realistic and complete look.
Then there's my Doll Leaves Oscar, who will have long, full eyelashes because hey, he's a performer!

    4. I don't think of having eyelashes as anything that has to do with gender. In fact, I think people would look quite alien without them. So all my dolls have them. Maybe it's the amount of mascara many women in media wear that gives the impression that lashes are feminine and don't look right on male dolls? But I need lashes on all my dolls because they enhance the eyes so well.

    5. 3 of my 4 guys have eyelashes. My boy without lashes will eventually get short ones, but he looks fine without them for now. 2 of my boys have short lashes that look perfect. And my last boy has super long lashes that he came with. Those lashes, coupled with his feminine face and long hair, mean he gets confused with a girl more times than not.

    6. I usually tend to put lashes on my boys. For realism, the overall aesthetic...plus--there are guys in real life that have more voluptuous, full eyelashes than even most women! So, to me it's kind of a given. The main reason Tahno doesn't at the moment is I've been busy. And lazy. Plus, I'm not sure if I'll keep the faceup long-term or change it, and will decide whether I'll add them or not once I've made up my mind.:kitty2

    7. I don't have any male dolls yet but I do want them to have lashes because otherwise it'd look a bit weird I think. Also the length doesn't matter to me as long as long it fits on the doll's face ahahah.

    8. I don't have a male doll yet, but I have Doll Legend 25cm Parado on order and I think he has lashes (it's hard to tell from the company photos). I also plan on ordering Mystic Kids Cris and I love his eyelashes. I agree that it doesn't really have anything to do with gender, but is more about the doll's character and style.

    9. I do not have any male dolls, however I would probably want them to have eyelashes. I personally like the look of the eyelashes on dolls, male dolls included. It is a particular detail that I think really adds to the overall aesthetic of a doll.

    10. I prefer it if they have lashes than none, because it just makes them look prettier.:whee:
I mean yeah, it does make them look like they're feminine but rather than that, I just think they are some kind of bishounen haha

I don't think I'd even like to shorten their lashes. But depending on the character, I might do it. All in all I just feel like the doll is incomplete without the lashes, so I prefer it that way.:)

    11. All of my male dolls come from companies where the original male faceups also had attached eyelashes, and because many of the men in my life actually have nicer/thicker eyelashes than me, and because I know my dolls will look fine with them, all of my male dolls faceups have attached eyelashes as well as the females.

    12. I prefer to give my boys eyelashes but I would trim them shorter to make them straighter. The long and curled ones are pretty but I just don't like them on my boys since guys in real life hardly ever curl their lashes :blush

    13. I like men with beautiful eyes and long eyelashes. Doll-boys is no exception.

    14. Right now none of my dolls have eyelashes!

I do intend for all of them to have eyelashes one day (even the boys!) because I feel it adds to realism.
I just want to wait till they have faceups I'm proud of first, I don't want to bother giving them eyelashes when I'm still going to be wiping and redoing their faceups because I'm still learning. :3nodding:

    15. Male or female, they don't look finished to me without lashes. It's fun to experiment with different types for different characters.

    16. My males have eyelashes, though usually much shorter than the females. I like the side view of that eyelash curve too much to leave my boys completely lashless (yea, only high-quality eyelashes with thin ends and curved hairs). :drool

    17. Eyelashes for everyone!

Honestly I think it depends on the style of the doll. The more anime/stylized ones can look pretty weird with eyelashes, and the realistic/painted styles can look weird or empty-socketed without them. My favorite is dolls with a unique color scheme that use more unusually-colored eyelashes, like red and pinks.

    18. Only for boys and teenagers. Adults male don't.

    19. Like has been said before, depends on the face up, the sculpt and just the aesthetic preference of the doll owner. I have a boy doll with natural, short eyelashes and they really add depth to his face. But I also like a few very stylized sculpts that wouldn't *need* lashes. My personal preference is for men with lashes (especially men with naturally thick lashes) because of that subtle addition to the face...but it's not a die hard rule for me.

    20. Yes, I would definitely give eyelashes to any male dolls I may own in the future (unless there was some character specific reason for them not to have them, but unlikely). I might shorten them, but it would all depend on the sculpt and character in question. I would be unlikely to go for a heavily made-up/mascaraed look, but then the same is true for female dolls with me.
