Would/do your male dolls wear eyelashes?

Jan 7, 2011

    1. My SD boys have short glued on lashes, my MSD boys don't have any.

    2. As far I have it planned right now, all of my boys will have eyelashes. If only to add a touch of realism to them since, honestly, actual males have them and sometimes, like in the case of my brother, just as long and thick as people imagine female lashes to be. The length might be determined, though. I understand the whole longer lashes = femininity mindset, though. A lot of females, me included, work to have long, so-called "luscious" lashes while some males work to have the opposite effect. I think because it's looked upon as "pretty" to have long lashes and not "handsome". Me? I love them on both genders so I actually, until now, haven't really given this much thought. :-D

    3. all my boys and girls have lashes, I just feel the look more realistic that way. I've always liked lashes in general though! My one boy has pretty long lashes but the other two, normal length, more natural. My girl, I went crazy with dramatic thick black lashes :) All my boys are straight, I just think lashes make a more attractive look for my dolls.

    4. Vince *would*, except one of his shirts is kind of a tight fit going over the head-- I don't freak out about it mussing up a properly sealed face-up, but I feel like it would knock long eyelashes askew! I might give it a shot one of these days, because he's androgynous enough and I think he'd look super cute with some long lashes framing his (veddy pretty blue glass) eyes...

Maurice probably wouldn't, as he's not a long eyelash kind of guy. Then again, as he's a head that shares Vince's body, I guess if I did put long eyelashes on Vince, I could swap their heads and have Maurice get in and out of too-tight shirts, since he's never going to have lashes to bend, pull, or otherwise muss up...

The guys I'm saving up for... probably not. One of them is an adult tiny, but his eyelashes, were he a real person, would be light, so I don't really need to give him eyelashes, they'd just sort of 'disappear' like mine often do. Pete might... if I found silver ones, or if I gave him a face-up that lent itself to 'oh and btw, I'm wearing mascara'. (he's not averse to makeup-- but like me, he's too lazy to do it every day unless someone gives him a really good reason)

      =^__^=

    5. I'm extremely picky about eyelashes. I think dolls can look just fine without them if they have the right faceup for it. I personally don't put lashes on my (one lone) boy doll because I don't think it looks right on him. Hell not even all my girl dolls have eyelashes. I think if I were ever to put lashes on my boy doll I would do some serious editing to his faceup and make the lashes very short and simple. Even his painted lower lashes are fairly sparse and subdued.

    6. Three out of the four male dolls I have that are large enough to have eyelashes do have them. However they are thinner and shorter than my female's.

The one that doesn't simply looks too feminine with them in. Of the boys that do, one came like that from the company, and another came with them second hand. And one has them because his twin sister does and he would look odd next to her without them.

    7. Oh yes my boys even my LTF boy has lashes. Wouldn't look right if they didn't.

    8. i didnt have a choice, my boy came with them when i got him but i like them. they bring out his eyes and i think it completes his face. granted a little girlie but he pulls it off well. id probably do it again if i got another boy.

    9. Nope. None of boys have lashes, with exception of one floating head.
Its strange, I feel as though I can't bond with them until I have removed their lashes....? :?

    10. Nope, my big boy doesn't have eyelashes.
I may make some for him eventually, but they'll be shorter and finer than what I usually see. Not really a fan of long, thick eyelashes on boy dolls... Even if my husband has long, thick eyelashes. XD

    11. My boy doll does not have eyelashes yet, but he will. I just feel it makes dolls look more realistic in general, regardless of their sex.

    12. My boy came with eyelashes, looks fine to me.
Haven't seen any doll without actually o.0

    13. Some of mine do and some don't, because they either didn't come with a face or they weren't included, or they were damaged and I removed it. I have most boxed up at the moment so it's hard for me to go count who does and doesn't. That said, some of my female dolls don't have them either. Same reason.

    14. All of my boys have eyelashes, just because eyes without lashes feel naked. They don't have big elaborate lashes, but they have them.

The one exception is Caer; his are painted on and it was decided between us and his faceup artist that he didn't need them. ;D

    15. Two of my boys have them, my DZ Mo and my RS An, but they came with them. The Mo's are default from the company, as are my An's lashes, and when I had my friend (who sold him too me) re-do his face up to suit the character, we just put them back in, they don't bother the face-up, in fact they look pretty. However my Sprite and my DF Wind don't have them, but I bought them both blank and painted them myself, and decided that they didn't need them as on the DF Wind it would make the character look too girlie, and with the Sprite... Well... As he doesn't even have EYEBROWS (because the unanimous opinion was that he was just different and elaborate enough on his own to not need the distraction on his face) adding bright red lashes would have looked silly... And I don't think I could have found them in a colour to match his wig anyhow. XD

    16. All my male dolls have lashes. I could not even imagine them without lashes. I mean real men/boys do have lashes as far as I know. LOL! I guess they just look unfinished if they don't have any. For a certain type of a fantasy look I might be able to keep one unlashed.

    17. Yes, my boys have eyelashes. I like them with eyelashes :)

    18. I could see future male dolls having lashes, but my current SD guy does not. I gave him light iris eyes, but they are very hard to see, as his eye opening is actually smaller than my MSD's! If I could find lashes dense but thin enough to look realistic on him, I'd try it, but for now, no lashes for him.

    19. Sure they do, they're natural and they make the face look more finished and realistic. It's all a matter of degree--long fluttery lashes would look wrong IMHO, but shorter, thinner lashes look great on a boy doll.

    20. Yes, I gave him shorter brown lashes as opposed to the ridiculously long black lashes I put on the girl dolls. My Soom Spinel has more realistically male looking yes too, not the "80's Prince" look of the default Soom make-up he came with, which is fine, but just not my taste. Eyes just don't look finished without them
