1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Would you buy dolls modded to look like your favourite Character?

Jan 7, 2007

    1. >_>; I bought an Iplehouse bichun to turn into Hatake Kakashi from Naruto. But, that's just because I like the character and the sculpt works in my opinion. Take CP's new 'Sebastian' from Kuroshitsuji, people are split on thinking it looks like the character or not. So it's hard to bring a 2d character into a 3d form without some discrepancies. So I don't think I'd buy one that was specifically made to represent one.

    2. All of the dolls I currently own are based on characters. Most are of my own creation, but a few are existing characters, though my own interpretation of them. A lot of the fun of this hobby for me is starting with a character and searching for the perfect head and body sculpts to suit that character--and once those are found, then there's faceups, modding, and looking for (or making) clothing and props. Odd as it may sound, my 'fan-art' dolls are more of a challenge to get just so because their characters are more concrete and unchanging than my own characters, who are still evolving.

    3. I wouldn't mod my doll to look like any celeb simply because they don't interest me:P I have, however considered buying a body and head and modding it to look like C.C from Code Geass... I think modding a doll to look like a favorite video game/ anime character is more easily achievable...:)

    4. I might make one of my doll look like an anime, manga, or videogame character but not in the image of a real people.

    5. Some of the immortality of soul bjds are based off of anime characters that I like. Jaguar, and Chaos are based off of my favorite characters (Grimmjow and Hollow Ichigo) from bleach. I would buy them in a heart beat.

    6. Hmm..at first it seems a bit strange, but I think I would hands down buy a Jared Padalecki and a Jensen Ackles doll so I can have my Sam and Dean <3 lolol I love Supernatural THAT MUCH, haha

    7. I think I would. One of the reasons I ordered my Dane was because he sort of looks like Sephiroth from FF7. He reminds me of some other character I like too,I just can't place him. Anyway,it's probably a good thing there aren't many celeb/character BJDs out there or else I would be bankrupt.

    8. I certainly would. That would just be beyond amazing, to have Link (Legend of Zelda), Two-Face (Batman), Matt (Death Note), and various other characters from TV shows and games in doll form. Especially Link. Who doesn't want the Hero of Time for photo shoots and adventures around Hyrule? (Plus, wouldn't it be cute to have him sit in your lap while you play Ocarina of Time or Twilight Princess?)

    9. I would definitely if I found one of my favorite celebs !

    10. If there was one that looked like Nephrite from Sailor Moon, I would!

    11. I think I totally would LOVE to have either a battousai doll, a xelloss doll, or a Ryuichi doll :D

    12. I think I would love modded dolls that looked like illustrations of my favourite artists. doll chateau already has the proportions, but the faces, not so much yet ;x

    13. No, I am really not a fan of cosplay type anything >> even buying Alice and Wonderland themed dolls/clothes is something I would try not to do unless it wasn't too blatantly Alice. It really bugs me, honestly >>;

    14. You betcha. More for the character than the celebrity that plays them though. Case in point:

      Got a custom sculpt of Rose Tyler from Doctor Who being made currently. I was beyond ecstatic when I found there was a MiniMee order for her and I jumped on it. I lobbied for some changes to the sculpt because it looks more like an older version of Billie Piper (the actress) than when she was younger and played Rose Tyler. (no changes were made in the end unfortunately, but you get my point). I'm hoping a tiny tweak or 2 by me and then an expert faceup artist's work can make the best of it :)

      Heck, I'd get custom sculpts of a few of my favorite characters if this hobby weren't so expensive. That, and if the sculpts I'd want actually existed.

    15. I would pay through the nose for Alois Trancy and Ceil Phantomhive dolls. ;~;

    16. I would totally buy a doll that looks like my favorite character, but I would get a mold that looks only some what like that person, because I think that the doll should be at least a little custom.

    17. No. I don't want a doll that looks like a celebrity. I prefer to have molds that fit already existing characters in my own head. :lol:

    18. A couple years back, I purchased a doll from ebay where this girl used a ken doll and created a johnny depp version, which was pretty awesome, she had it on the news where she lived and everything, I was pretty impressed! Normally, I tend to stay away from that kinda stuff though, as I can get a little obsessed, I usually like original character's but it was a change, it was different

    19. Most defiantly!!

    20. It really depends. I might be tempted if the doll looked like Loki or a Dragon Quest character, but I probably wouldn't be so hot to buy an actor look-alike straight up. ^^;
