Would you buy dolls modded to look like your favourite Character?

Jan 7, 2007

    1. There's a practice head in my posession that is going to mysteriously turn into Jeremiah Gottwald (aka Orange-kun) from Code Geass at some point.

Another recent revelation I had while watching anime, I think Shizuo from Durarara looks JUST like DZ's new Brant. XD I'm REALLY thinking about doing it.

I love my original character dolls to bits, but I don't think there's anything wrong with having a few character dolls either. ^_^; I love making cosplay for my boys, so it wouldn't be much of a leap to get a doll for a permanent anime character.

    2. Don't care much for celebrities, characters on the other hand....

Piper, Stork, Repton and Starling from Storm Hawks, Captain Jack Sparrow (LOL, I typed Jack Harkness there, I think quite a few people would like to have Harkness and Ianto dolls and play 'house' with them)

    3. If it were a Frank Iero, Gerard Way or Billie Joe Armstrong doll then yes. But it would probably depend on if it's made really well. I think I would prefer to mod it myself, though.

    4. I have no interest in celebreties.... blegh. I dont even watch TV o,o of course with anime characters the story is different but totally! yes! looooove~~~

although it would have to be limited edition. I wouldnt want a million people with the same doll.... takes away the specialness.

    5. Some characters I'd love to have would be Neuro, Yako and Godai (with a doggy collar and doggy dish...I love that Neuro is always trying to feed him dog kibble from a doggy dish!) off of the anime Majin Tantei Nōgami Neuro.

Oi...most of the cast of The Black Butler, Sebastian, Ciel, Bard, Finnian, Pluto, Prince Soma, Grell, Viscount of Druitt and most wanted, Undertaker. Gotta love those guys! Oh and if there could be mods made for a goat boy and a wolf boy, I'd so love Gabbu and Mei off of One Stormy Night as kemo...however you say it.

Celebrities, not so much. I could do with a Hulk Hogan doll but that's about it. X3

Mmmm...there's a few dolls I am searching for specifically to be a dolly miniature of people I know.

    6. I.. have a couple of those already. xD One of my dolls is modeled after Fai D. Flourite from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, and another is Cho Hakkai from Gensomaden Saiyuki. :D I love character dolls, though I'm a bit more into dolling my own characters these days. :P

Anyway, other characters I'd love to have in doll form someday..: Ciel Phantomhive (Kuroshitsuji), Kubota Makoto (Wild Adapter), and Sakura-hime (Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle). There are probably a few others, but those are the big ones. It'd be hard to do, though... the problem being that I'm so picky. :P

    7. hmmmm...well....what I would do is have it modded myself if that were the case, but typically I like my dolls to be their own person ^ ^

    8. I like mods on dolls, but I'm generally not a fan of dolls who are made to look like an existing person or character. Mind you, i have seen some lovely dolls/mods out there for that purpose, but I personally prefer dolls that are their own character or are a character YOU made up. I think that way, it's more exciting~

    9. I wouldn't have a doll that was an actor or celebrity only, that would be boring. But a minimee that you turn into a charecter from a movie or something is neat-o. I own a minimee but I add my own personal touches like different hair or slightly diffrent clothes to make it different. It just amuses me to no end that I would have a 60 cm doll off of my favorite movie or tv show...

    10. Would I buy it? Maybe, probably not.. simply because if it was my favourite character I would be picky down the smallest detail, and I'd probably never agree with some small detail enough to say "must have!" And if I did, I'd probably never be able to pay for it without long layaway.

But, it's a fun thing to aspire to. ^^

Personally, I'd rather put one together.

    11. if it looks good enough, and not a horrible stretch in the pocket, I don't see why not :)

    12. I would be more tempted to buy one that was a video game character (Dante from DMC) or from Manga (D from P.S.O.H.) because it would come with appropriate accessories / outfit / eyes etc. I thik I would actually end up buying more dolls if there were ones of my favourite characters already on offer.
But I do think it would raise copyright issues.

If I really wanted one though I would mod it myself.

    13. Oh yes. If I had money I would deffinitely buy Robert Pattinson look a like

    14. For me, it would all depend on how the mold itself looked. A doll set up to look like, say, Sephiroth or Vincent Valentine from FF7 would be awesome and I love seeing dolls like that. I know it's not for me, per se, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying the doll for the doll's sake.

Now, if a doll were modded that looked like a particular original character I have, then I would get on that so fast, I'd have whiplash. *shrugs* That's just me though.

    15. I certainly didn't hesitate to buy a doll modded to look like one of my favorite characters when they came up for sale in the marketplace.:) When the very talented Luckyl put her Johnny Depp/Mad Hatter doll with modded eyes up for sale...at first I couldn't believe it:o...then my brain went, "Oh my, what would happen if the Mad Hatter escaped Wonderland and wound up opening a haute couture shop in the same inner-city neighborhood where the rest of my original characters live??? Eureka!!! I think creativity and characters can go off in many directions, artistically speaking. Sometimes your own creativity is expressed in the story...and the display...and the wardrobe...and the interactions with the rest of your dolls. Creativity takes on many different forms and can follow along many different paths. I feel like I created my own "Alice II-Hatter's Escape" episode. So now Hatter designs original quirky outfits for the rest of my intrepid crew (I still have to make them though!):sweat

    16. If a modded doll come up that looked like Athena Asamiya I would buy that in a heart beat, I was thinking of doing it myself. I wouldn't mind a doll modded to look like Ace, Sanji, Luffy or Zoro either. For celebrities give me one to look like Johnny Depp and Robort Downey Jr.

    17. The only person/idol/celebrity I could ever see myself buying a doll of is the Japanese singer Ai Otsuka. As for anime/cartoon characters, there is a lot wider variety of those I could see owning, depending on how close they do really look like to the characters. If they don't look a lot like the character, I wouldn't buy it. You know, like not throwing a blond spiky wig on a doll, blue eyes and draw whiskers onto the face and calling it Naruto. The face it's self needs to be kind of Naruto-shaped too, which I know is pretty hard to find with anime characters to faces.

    18. Damn rights I would. If I'm mad enough about the character, I'd save up to buy him.

    19. The consensus was nay on celebs???
Well, I guess I could see that... I'm not a big fan of the hyper-realistic ones >.> with all the smile lines and all, not my thing...
THe only celebs I would totally die for are the Kaulitz twins minimees from Tokio Hotel because even though my obsessioin with them ended last year, I still think those boys are the epitome of gorgeous <3 XDDD

As for anime characters/assorted cartoons/etc, I totally would without question XDD

    20. not if they looked like celebrities, i prefer if it was moded in an original fashion
to give it its own identity, make it unique
