Would you buy dolls modded to look like your favourite Character?

I'm not really in to celebrities or..character's from anime, manga or game's...well that would be a Lie since I do like some video game characters lol. I would more or less make my doll in to one of my own character's which I'm still aiming for!

 

I have very much considered buying dolls of a couple characters due to my unhealthy obsessions with them *laugh* People not as much, but maybe. I highly doubt I could find dolls to look like my favorite actors that weren't Minimees.

 

Oh, I soooo would! I've seen alot of various anime/manga characters people have made into dolls and i want them so bad, ha! I personally am looking for a very asian young male one, in my price range, to turn into Sai from Naruto (yeah, i like naruto... so sue me...) b/c i would swoon over it so hard...

My favorite characters are all MINE, lol, so I buy dolls and I mod them myself. Benefits of living in my own little worlds. *hermit-writer*

 

Only one I'd probably buy is a doll modded after L, from Death Note. And I'm considering doing his head myself... I'd love a nice-looking L

 

I love the excitement stress of the hunt to find dolls that look like two people I enjoy. It drives me nuts because they are so unique, they don't have faces considered aesthetically pleasing to the standard BJD company. It's all about finding something similar and working with a bit of sand paper finding new faceup techniques.

I wouldn't want to commission a mod or pay for a minimee, I like doing it myself. I would even sculpt them myself over paying someone. It's very personal for me, I would want that doll experience to be mine and mine alone.

However, if I were looking for a more standard face, like Angelina Jolie or someone, I might just buy a head that someone modded to look like them, if I were looking for the general idea of the face and not the celebrity. If the person means nothing and I just wanted a doll with a similar facial structure, I see no problem with that. Celebrity sculpts provide opportunities to buy heads that don't look like they came from an anime series.

 

I haven't fangirled any characters in many years, even tho I might like certain shows or cartoons or animes, I don't obsess over them enough to get merchandise based on them. Now, dolls that look like my own original characters? I'd pounce in a heartbeat.

 

I was tempted to buy several dolls to replicate characters from Naruto ...back when I was still a Narutard. Glad I didn't do it because it would have costed me a lot! but i do like having my doll cosplay a character I like.

 

I personally want to make my own characters, or use my OCs for any future dolls, but if there's ONE character I'd like, it'd be Kamui Shirou from X/1999. I would give my lung for that. ;_;​

 

I would! But there is only one person that I want as a doll, other characters are all mine.

 

I don't think I would. Because they would just be figurines of the characters that you can buy for $40-$80 So it wouldn't really appeal to me.

I'd like mydolls to be my characters not modelled off my favourite Final Fantasy Character xD However I wouldn't mind them cosplaying as long as they're not modded to look like the character.

 

Minimee? I mean, they do custom sculpts. Super expensive if you order yourself, but. *shrug* I've considered going to them for my oc character already.
I'd never get a celebrity doll, because they creep me out really bad (and absolutely ooze creepy stalker vibes - sorry to those who have them and are sane people :P), and I don't really have any favourite fictional characters I would consider paying 500$+ for. As a cosplay thing, sure! Spending so much money on a modded sculpt of a character that isn't mine? Nah. Like said above, figures can be bought, which are just as well crafted as a bjd sometimes.

That said it would be fun to have my dolls cosplay as characters from Ace Attorney, Phoenix Wright, Starcraft, Ratchet and Clank (though..... that last one would be really difficult haha)....

I've been pondering getting an Iplehouse Tedros and customising him to be RDJ as Tony Stark - but I think that's mostly because I fancy the challenge of building a 70cm Iron Man suit, and to be honest once I'd built it I'd likely sell him as an Iron Man fullset - the fun for me would be in the making of it rather than owning my own Tony Stark/Iron Man.

 

why not? since i'm anime fan probably buying one alike my fav characters would be good!

 

I would totally be buying my favorite video game/anime characters as dolls if there were no copyright issues.
I'm heavily addicted to Sergei Dragunov from Tekken, and getting a doll version of him actually was the kick start for my entire doll hobby to begin with. I originally bought my first doll with the idea of customizing him to look like Sergei, but when I received him, he didn't look even nearly enough like him and I didn't want to mod his gorgeous facial features, so that idea was scrapped. However, I still haven't let go of the dream of some day owning my very own Sergei doll. I have a couple of molds in mind that I think would make a perfect Sergei with the right face up/some modding, I just don't know if I'd have the guts to do the modding myself, in fear of ruining an expensive doll, so the idea of purchasing one that's already a complete lookalike would be like a dream come true.
Along with Sergei, I have a lengthy list of other game/anime characters I'd love to own as well, but none of them are as high in my wishlist than him. Oh, some day he shall be mine~

 

There are some actors that I wish I could find a MSD sculpt that looks like, but more because I think they are pretty and they're typically of an aesthetic that's really hard to find in BJD (more 'rugged' Western-type male features for a couple of older male OCs I have in my cast)- I'd definitely buy a minimee or modded head of one of those- but I wouldn't be tempted to have a doll of the actor or character nearly so much.

Oh, I would, and I will. I mean, look at my signature. I'm planning on buying 3 SD's to make my favorite dethklok characters. And despite finding near perfect molds for all 3, there will have to be some modding (that I'll get someone else to do! aha!).

It's going to be fun when I get them :3
