Would you buy multiple sizes of your favorite mold?

Apr 12, 2014

    1. Yessss... which is why I'm so glad I don't collect Fairy Land dolls at the moment! They have so many size options for the same doll... I'd be broke! (more than now heehee).

But yes, I have multiple sizes of my favorite mould.

    2. I would buy the same doll if I liked the mold well enough. I can think of several face ups I'd like to try with Sol from Ringdoll. Same base, but it's amazing what different make up and highlights will do the same bone structure. I can easily see buying the same sulpt in different sizes.

    3. Let's see... I have a Crobidoll Lance Daydream, plan on a normal Lance, an E-line (yoSD version) Lance and a Little Monica Little Kliff who might not be "the same doll" but still looks close enough to Crobi's sculpt to be an MSD Lance in my opinion... so uhh...

    4. I have! My first two dolls, Amir and Loki, started out MSD, as Aod Chen and DZ Mo. About 3 years ago, I decided to upgrade to SD, but the MSD versions had more sentimental value than monetary, so I kept both. In Amir's case, there is no SD Chen, but Gu was close enough. In Loki's case, he is now SD Mo-B. So, yes, in the case of Loki, I have MSD and SD Mo. I also have another SD Mo waiting for when Loki's son, Zack, becomes an adult. :)

    5. Yes. It would be fun if I have a twin dolls ^__^

    6. I'd love to have the SD13, SD17 both versions, and the Yo-Midi version of Volks Williams. The SD and Yo-Midi versions of Volks Cecile and Cyndy also.

    7. I don't think I'm going to buy multiple sizes but I will probably buy an extra same-sized one because I'm pretty much attracted to SD sized dolls only at the moment xD

    8. I would, for a doll to represent the character at a different age. I think it's cute and quite good for character/story development or continuation. I would also love to buy the same sculpt in different sizes, however as not all companies offer that I have to settle on similar looking sculpts instead, though it's a hope of mine that they one day will do.

    9. I have LUTS' HDF and KDF Lolly as the same character at different ages. They're so cute together! If LUTS makes a bigger Lolly sculpt, I'll probably buy that one too and add her to the timeline.

    10. I have a friend who wants to shell his fantasy character, who canonically has a beautiful little doll of herself. I'm really hoping he gets them both because I'd love to see them together in person...

    11. I prefer to buy same sizes of the same molds. I like the idea of twin dolls.

    12. I would be all over a tiny version of Nathanial my Dollshe Husky that I can take everywhere to sit looking pouty and disapproving if they made one

not quite the same but I have also got two Leekeworld B types (with a third on the way). They are not intended to be the same characters as my bigger A type girls but I did buy them specifically because they were like smaller more portable versions of them

    13. Would I buy multiple sizes of my favourite mold... yes I definitely do. They aren't all the same character, they are all their own unique characters, but I actually purposely buy all the sizes of my two absolutely favourite molds - the Lishe and the Breakaway, because I want to own an "entire" set as it were. I also have them all in different skin tones and I occasionally have more than one of the same mold in the same size. (most of that is more fluke than on purpose, lol.)

      So, I have:

      Lishe:
      • SD - Delf dreaming NS; F70 OE NS; modded dreaming Elf 05 NS; OE NS (Delf Art); Elf 06 WS; Elf Vampire WS; Tanning; F60 WS; F60 Tan (plus an incoming WS Elf 05)
      • MSD - MNF NS; MNF Tanning (b-line); MNF Tan; Chicline NS (incoming Chicline tan)
      • Yo - LTF NS, LTF Tan

Breakaway/Ital (I stick to Fairyland releases only with this boy)
      • SSD/SD - 2 OE F70s; F65 Nose Scar faceplate; F65 Eye Scar faceplate (plus incoming F65 Tan)
      • MSD - MNF Scar (plus sleeping head); Chicline (plus incoming Chicline Tan)
      • Yo - 3 LTF

And I then also have multiple sizes or numbers of these sculpts as well:
      • El = Chicline, LTF, LTF Elf
      • Chloe = 2 F60 Nanuri As, Chicline
      • Bonnie = 4 PKF
      • Zoe = 3 PKF

One of my friends collects in a similar manner to me, and she has Shiwoos in every size that has been offered, along with a hybrid on an F70, in Delf, MNF, LTF, PKF and Multihead.

    14. Yes, I would! However, my favorite doll size is SD, so I don't have any smaller versions of my current dolls (like Soom Ai or Afi, for example). I would like them in the future, though, after I complete my SD wishlist :)

    15. I do not always like the same mold for all sizes. My first idea was to buy any second hand pukipuki I could find at a fair price and I found an Ante. Then, I was looking for a Pukifee Mio but I fell in love with a second hand Ante and couldn't resist the temptation so without liking the idea, I have the same mold in two sizes. Luckily, they do not look very identical so to say. I am happy about them but wouldn't mind if they found a new home.
The lesson learnt here for me is don't buy impulsively and stick to your initial plan.

    16. Haha yes, I will have any size offered by the company of my favorite molds. :D
I already have 3 version~2 size of Yeon-Ho from BJDCrobi (CrobiDolls) actually. :XD:

    17. TPR-I had you mixed up with someone else who I think collects as many of the FL Shushu mold as possible as well. Then I remembered the Lishe collector, LOL!

That's the real trick-sticking to only to your plans. My thought was to only collect MSD sized dolls, and I now have an SD on layaway with the idea of 3 more. And I am sure Yo-SD will eventually make their way into my collection...Still, I think it would be neat to have your favorite sculpt available in different sizes. It's nice to have a "family" of dolls that you can see the similarities.

    18. Yes. I have around 10 Els in different sizes, but mostly different characters, and 7/8 Shiwoos...just like the Els. One Delf El and Shiwoo have LTF versions of themselves but the rest are different characters. My MNF Shiwoo Elf is the son of my Delf El Elf! Also have a LTF Shiwoo Elf as another son.

Have two Dark Soos, one Human and One Elf. Also have 2 Breakaways/Itals. One Delf one Chicline. Two Yders, one human, one elf. Two Luwens, but he came with 2 heads. Two Beylas, but came with two heads.

    19. I would definitely buy at least a few of my characters in other sizes (particularly, I would love MSD versions of Soom Cuprit especially, scaled to appear around 8-10 years old). I use my dolls to tell stories, and their childhoods are part of their stories. Cuprit I'd buy because she's my 'main' character (and so her childhood is the one I've explored the most). I also wouldn't mind a mini-Galena, mini-Migma and mini-Chrom. They all have interesting elements to their childhoods that I'd be interested exploring (Galena is a genetically-engineered, fast-aging winged warrior, Migma is of a race that was violently subjugated during her youth, and Chrom's present personality is extremely influenced by his childhood experiences). I've actually considered getting a Soom Thera before, to cast as a young Cuprit, but an 'official' model would be even better!

    20. Yes, I would! I own E-Line Lance (26 cm) from Crobi and I would love to have R-Line Lance (63 cm) as well, so that he can be the older version of my baby! :)
