1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Would you get a Minimee of yourself?

Sep 26, 2009

    1. Perhaps! I have considered it, but I worry how it will change how I view myself, if I will end up cherry-picking the best things about me and put it in a doll, glossing over the not-so-nice bits. I just worry it will make me lose perspective on myself!

    2. Would I. Heck i would buy two and make them make out.

    3. Definitely not, I don't like dolls modeled after real people in the first place, much less myself.

    4. Haha nope, it would weird me out too much to have something that looks a lot like me. Most of my dolls are fantasy-like to begin with anyways, never been a fan of the super realistic ones.

    5. Nope heh. I roleplay and i've never had a character who's been any sort of self insert in either appearance or in personality. They may have small elements, but I actually like the escapism. I'm me all the time and I don't much like me, so being able to be someone ELSE is super appealing.
My dolls are extensions of that, they're all "characters", not necessarily preexisting ones, but characters all the same.

That said, I DO have a fondness for frizzy hair on fashion dolls because as a kid all fashion dolls were well.. barbie.. so looked like my sister. Tall, skinny, blonde... *sigh*. I always smile when i see a doll that looks a bit more like ME with the frizzy dark hair and all that hah. But even when i'm given the option to create a doll that's a minime, I just don't. Maybe that's my self loathing speaking though.
But if I look around at all the dolls on my shelves, there's not one who looks anything like me hahahah, they're all way cooler.

    6. No not really, I dont like male dolls :P
But imagine if they made female version of Me that could be hilarious

    7. Um, no. It doesn't appeal to me and I'm dysphoric enough about my body as it is.

    8. I'd consider it. But not like, a suuuuper realistic sculpt, a little more stylized version of me. As it is, I'm planning on making a Mary-Sue-ish character from an Iplehouse girl, and I picked the sculpt that I believed had features that were most similar to my own.

    9. I'd like a doll with my body type mostly for sewing purposes.

    10. Nope. I like creating original characters that look different from me. It wouldn't be too fun to play with a doll that looked like me.

    11. I think this would be a funny idea, i can imagine carrying the little version of myself, but it would be kinda creepy to me if i actually got it lol so there's no way i'd get one

    12. Maybe. I'm a huge fan of minimees. I'm a woman, but if I got a minimee of myself, I would make it into a man version of myself. I think that would be cool.

    13. No I really don't think I could...just personally it would make me feel kind of uncomfortable looking at it. But to each their own I would say in this hobby!

    14. @punkturtle Haha! I'm with you on would want a male version of myself!

To have a doll look like me, errm it I didnt need to pay for it annnd for the creepy factor of it and to creep people out by it yes-plus would make a good Sabrina from Pokemon cosplay!
...but otherwise no, I wouldnt particularly want to have a doll that looked like me.
Maybe unless it was very stylised and 'perfect' version myself mayybbbeee.
The thought of having a doll that had all my face as it is would irrigate me and probably make me feel rather insecure about myself hahaha~

    15. No, i'd actually feel sorry for any doll looking like me, yikes!!!!:sweat

    16. I actually have a mini-me :) The first doll I got looks a lot like me, and I never noticed until people pointed it out. However, she has red eyes currently, and mine are well - blue gray. I've not found the right pair of eyes yet.

    17. Oh, god. No, no, no.

    18. No I would never xD But when I was around 11 or 12, my mom got me a baby doll called My Twinn and I loved it to death. I thought it was such a cool concept to be able to get a baby doll with the same eye color, hair color and cut as me. But a BJD version of me? No way baby.

    19. I already have one. My Lysandra (Avatarpicture) looks like me. xD

She was my second doll. ^^

    20. Ick! No thanks!
