1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Would you sell a rare/limited/discontinued doll?

Dec 11, 2015

    1. I think I only would if I decided that I no longer enjoy the doll. I wouldn't want to hold on to it just because you can't get it anymore if it doesn't make me happy.

    2. I have two dolls that fit into this (mostly): my Felixdoll Toby and my Impldoll Adela.
Felixdoll isn't around anymore, I don't think, so I can never get my little boy again. Besides, he's way too cute to give up.
The Adela sculpt isn't hard to get, but her faceup is extremely unique and even though my character for her is older now, I couldn't imagine selling my girl and seeing someone else change her and make her into someone else.

    3. Certainly not until I had to for financial reasons - I might give one of my rare/limited dolls to one of my girls (early inheritance LOL) if I just couldn't keep all my dolls. But I love all my dolls, even the ones I get exasperated with. Now, when I say that, I'm really talking mainly about head sculpts, but if it's a limited/rare doll then I'd keep the whole doll.

    4. Yep. If I don't want 'em, I don't want 'em. I have a limited I'm quibbling on right now, but my hesitation on whether I want to let him go or not isn't because of his availability, it's because he was a gift from my grandmother, and I really do think he's rather lovely...

    5. I sold an EXTREMELY rare/limited sculpt years ago (Volks Suiseiseki) because I needed the money. However, if there wasn't a money issue, I would have kept her.

In this hypothetical situation where I owned the doll, was financially okay & it just depending on whether or not I love the sculpt... yeah, I'd part with it... but only for another doll as rare or limited as the one I had.
