Ylisande and TL2/twigLimbs2 body Discussion Thread

Okay here's a tiny little update XD

The body molds are all done, but there's been a small glitch with the magnets that are cast into the head.. and some other urgent projects have been fast-tracked while we sort out the "head issues".

I'm flying to Ohio this week in preparation for the '08 BJD Artists Retreat and will be taking a revised version of Yli's head with me. We are visiting the moldmaking team and they are going to make me clay up and mold the revised head, and hopefully after that Ylisande will be ready for production.

I think the plan is to cast until the molds are worn out (about 50 shots) and then the EnchantmentDoll team will clean up and string the dolls before they are put up for sale. This means that when you order, they are ready to ship and there will be no extended wait or preorder. Then the whole thing starts again, as new molds need to be made.. and there might be some revisions to certain parts before that happens, plus there are other dolls (by other artists) being cast as well.

Regarding the revisions to Ylisande's face, they are very minor and mostly to do with the mechanics of how the magnets are cast in place.. the dolls painted by Armeleia and Lilykoi are all the original sculpt, while the tan doll has the revised head. The primary aestetic change is that the edge of the lower lip has been softened so that when you paint the face the shape of the lower lip can be determined with paint rather than by the sculpt. There are also some small changes to the shape and balance of the eyes.

Afaik, none of the dolls in the first run will be tan, they will all be pinkwhite or normal skin. But I will know more about that when I can sit down and talk to Catrina and the moldmakers in person. You're right too that we don't have a price yet; due to the head/magnet issue we haven't got a complete costing on the production side... soon though, and hopefully at a price that is reasonable to all involved

I literally can't wait. Yilsande in white and tan are at the top of my list of wanted dolls.

 

She is on mine too so far. I can't wait to see a face-up.

RROSS, there are faceups shown earlier in the thread, but only on light skin dolls so far.

Weslie, no real news yet but I'm hoping it won't be long now. We will post a news thread and make a note here as soon as things get moving.

 

I saw but I want to see a face-up on a tan.

 

I will have a face-up on my tan girl around the end of November, so once she's home I'll take some pics for everyone!

 

Thought I might give a small update, since it's been quiet for a while...

The first few dolls of the initial run have now been cast and are in the process of being assembled. When they are ready there will be an ordering page up on atnouveau.com for Ylisande. The rest of the edition will be cast probably in January after the holidays.

This first run will be three different skintones: palest pink, vanilla and normal skin. The first dolls to be available will be the vanilla colour, which is supposed to be a decent match to DIM Minimee resin, but I cannot confirm this as yet.

 

any new updates on ordering? I saw her in person at IDEX and I have to have one as soon as they are ready

 

Hey mhdolls, as far as I know most of the dolls have been cast and Catrina is just back from holidays so hopefully they will get more dolls cleaned up and assembled very soon so they can be put up for sale. plus I bet there will be a banner and a News thread here on DoA when she's up for sale.

 

thanks twigling. When I asked at IDEX I got kind of a vague future reply and didn't get the impression they were cast yet. I will keep watchng!

i love this doll, and have always wanted her, i hope i don't miss an opportunity if/when she is available again, she is breathtakingly beautiful, IMO.

Miss Ally ~ Again?? She hasn't been up for sale yet. Such a learning curve getting everything put together, we might write a book about it one day, or it might be a tv soap
