1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Ylisande and TL2/twigLimbs2 body Discussion Thread

Jun 1, 2008

    1. *_* maybe i had a dream?.......

    2. I think she is gorgeous and expressive, twigling, and would love to get her in a tanned resin, or perhaps in normal skin tone (although a tan would be my first preference). I love her sculpt! :aheartbea

Shankula ~ Lovely work on the face up! :chocoberry

    3. You're not the only one hoping for tan, earth.spirits! I've had my heart set on a nice, rich, dark skinned Ylisande since I first saw early pictures of the sculpt. Here's hoping the wait isn't too long - though I know it will be worth it, however long it takes!

    4. I'm really hoping for white skin! :)

    5. The colours at present are light NS (we call it "vanilla") which should match Minimee resin and the likes; Normal skini ie. "Peach" not sure what it does match but hoping to find out in the next couple of weeks; and lastly "Pinky white" which is a very pale near-white with a hint of pink. We are waiting to find out if the tan will be possible ~ if so it will not be available till the next batch.

    6. I'm praying that a layaway will be possible, because if there is a tan, I am SUNK.

    7. Hi everyone,

Any idea about the price point on a basic, unpainted Yilsande?

      Thanks

    8. She's going to be about $600 for a default (blank) version. Facepainting will be available in both default facepainting, as well as custom (your description and design). The artist doing facepainting for Ylisande will be DOA's own modwonderwoman, Armeleia.

Thanks to all for your patience on waiting for Ylisande's debut. She's a big doll, with very large parts to cast. The castings are GORGEOUS.. extremely beautiful and the resin is picture perfect. The fact we will have them shortly in three colors is amazing to me! The tanned color is something we are working on now. Because of the difficulty of mixing and sanding tanned resins, we will not be able to offer you that option for at least a few months, and in small quantities.

      More info coming soon!

    9. I'm so glad to hear things are still moving on Ylisande! I can't wait to see owner photos of her, and what Armeleia does to keep her fingers limber! ;)

    10. That's great news, Dollyholic! I'll keep waiting for a nice dark tan, and pining over her beauty when others get the normal and white skinned girls until then.

    11. I've been checking on the enchantment doll website. She is very interesting looking. I didn't realize she was so big. Wow. I can't wait to see some more pics. I saw a gypsy version of her in a doll magazine. I don't remember which one, but she had tanned resin. She's so different than the others out there.

    12. Hi dollutional,

The Gypsy version from the cover of Doll Reader was actually beauty green (creamy white that yellowed over time), but the lighting in the photos must have made her come off as more of a tan colour, which is nice. She was cast by me and was the first doll cast with my own molds. She now resides at Dollfair. I have also cast both light and dark tan dolls with my molds, two of which reside with me, one was traded away and one has been clothed and customised in collaboration with Armeleia and will be auctioned off in the near future.

All the dolls have been cast, and the challenge now is to assemble them all. I visited the facilities last month and tried to help out a bit, but it is challenging and time consuming to work on each doll. I know we keep saying soon, soon, and new problems have kept coming up along the way, it's really been a big learning experience!! We are working on getting everything ready now, preparing the sales page and setting up a gallery with more pictures, making box labels, pillows, COA cards and more.

But, we are moving along and getting closer to opening sales, and we have received samples of the dark tan resin which will be used in the future so that will be going ahead later in the year.

    13. Oh, that's excellent news, twigling! I'm excited to see the color when production starts later this year. :)

You got to actually visit the casting facility, then? It must have been amazing for you, to see a doll you designed and sculpted being made on a production line. VERY cool!

    14. You are certainly very talented. I have to find the photo now, she did look tanned! Good to know if they yellow, they still look great. Where are the dolls made (may I ask?). I love that the mold is not that of striving for the perfect perky nose, perfect pouty lips -- it seems so much more human to me. (I hope you don't take that the wrong way) -- in her entirety she is perfection just not the stereotypical beauty. Because I do think she is...beautiful. What are her body dimensions like? The reason I ask, I was thinking of Supia for my first larger doll (than MSD) but someone in a thread mentioned the body was just "too thin" I'm not that familiar with bjds as I am new, so is your beauty's body on the thin side also?

    15. Kiya,

I've been to the casting facility two or three times in the past, but when I visited this time the dolls were already cast and laid out on tables in the Dollfair workshop, so we were mainly there to talk about the tan resin and did a small test on the spot. For most of the visit I was sequestered in the gloomy warehouse about 12-14 hours per day (of my own free will, I should add, and I did enjoy it in a way!!) sanding parts and bending/cutting wires till I got blisters. I thought by the end I was going to be throughly sick of Ylisande, but I found as I was working on her that I still very much enjoy the sculpt, I sort of fell in love with it again, and I am quite proud of what I have created, while at the same time recognising certain flaws (as an artist, there is always something).

      dollutional,

thank you:) I have the magazine in question here, and she does look eerily olive-skinned to me. Keep in mind that this was in essence my first test cast and I didn't put UV additive in the mix. I also used a different type of resin which had a more grey/creamy base colour, where later castings used a resin which cures to bright white. The EnchantmentDoll/Dollfair castings all have UV additive in them, and this chemical does slow down and subdue the yellowing caused by oxydisation from UV exposure and oxygen, but not yellowing caused by extreme heat.
I appreciate your comments on the sculpt, and I am glad you can see something human or realistic or imperfect about her and still see her in a positive light. You can imagine I have looked at her for so long, I am getting tired of her, but I still do like the face a lot.

The original was sculpted here in Australia, the dolls were cast in Ohio and assembled at the Dollfair workshop (Atelier Nouveau) in Berea, Ohio.

Her body proportions are probably a little fuller than that of Supia, but Supia might be a little taller. Some of Ylisande's measurements are listed in the first post of this thread. I think her body is a bit idealised, but more natural than many other BJD sculpts out there.

    16. i'm so excited that you are getting close to her release, will you be notifying us in a news thread? or should we keep checking here for updates.

    17. Miss Ally, there will definitely be a News thread when she's ready (and probably an ad banner) ~ I know they are trying to get a few dolls of each colour ready before opening sales, and they are nearly halfway to that goal.

    18. awesome, thanks for letting me know, how exciting.....weeeeee!

    19. Can't wait for this girl to be available. Hopefully I will be able to buy one by the end of the year. :D

    20. how's the progress coming along?..... any news??
