1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Your partner and your BJD...

Feb 27, 2011

    1. My boyfriend is fully accepting of the hobby :) We've been together for about three years, so he was with me when I started dolly-ing and even bought my first one for my birthday XD He's even saving up to get a dolly of his own :D It's also interesting to note that he and I have always been weird with pet names...like we have really sickening pet names for each other...and lately we've been calling each other 'PukiFee'!! :D

    2. My bf is fond of my dolls and now he wants one himself. Have to start on an 'Artful Dodger' costume (a character from Oliver Twist) soon ;)

    3. Mr B is a huge enabler of this addiction (ahem!) I mean hobby of mine ;) He happily takes me to the fabric shop and is vocal with his suggestions for outfits and names. I have an awesome photo of my tough guy with my LF Amelia but not sure if I can post a pic in here so I won't.

He's recently taken to calling me the crazy doll lady - I guess he figures he has to balance out all the nice with a bit of stick poking

    4. Mr Marinadreams can't stand dolls...! He's not nasty about them, but does tease me...A LOT...!
He won't let me have them on general display anywhere in the house.....
We have a 'grannie flat' across the garden (where my brother lives) and my dolls are all in glass cabinets there ..;-( My brother is actually really supportive of my hobby, although seeing them there before he falls asleep can't be great, poor guy..! We all watched a horror/ghost DVD the other night and it turned-out to be all about dolls/ventriloquist dummies...After it ended, my poor bro said, 'Yeah...sleep well everybody..! I'm off to go be with Marina's dolls for the night now...!' ;-x
Mr Marinadreams is also as tight as they come, so to him dolls are just a waste of (alot of) money as well as space and a 'tacky eye sore'....(He's an architect, so expresses his views on our home quite a bit)...My job is to create as many issues to annoy & clutter his life (unintentionally) as I can...Dolls, dogs, fish, kids, toys, books, craft supplies, etc etc
Our children also don't take my hobby seriously and it saddens me I can't share my LOVE of dolls with any family members... I'm new to BJDs but have collected very realistic OOAKs for several years...these even scare me if I'm there alone in a dim light at night with them...!! ;-)
Mr Marinadreams did recently offer for me to move the doll cabinets to a room in the house, but right at the back, out of sight of everybody ....What's the point....? In my opinion, one of the nicest parts of owning beautiful dolls is to be able to display them and show them off......??
Just my 2 cents anyway.... ;-) Marina x

    5. I'm not expecting he'll jump all over it. Lol. I'm betting he'll probably think it's weird. But I'll never know if I don't break that ice, right? Thanks for your helpful input! ^^

    6. My boyfriend is fine with it, he'll even listen to me talk about it. But if I talk about BJDs too much, he makes up an excuse or starts ignoring me. I guess he feels the same way of I do about his obsession with cars, super happy that he has a hobby but at some point I start hearing about them too much. He is still scared someone will see a bunch of doll stuff on his laptop when I am looking through items or he's looking for gifts for me. Even more scared that "the guys" at school will chance upon it during class (lol).

    7. My boyfriend supports my hobby :3 just how I support his Yugioh hobby (I started playing with it with him). He actually won my first ball joint doll for me and a convention I went to, best moment of my life, she was my first doll. I like to sit around and pick out outfits for the dolls I like online and sometimes he'll pick things out with me :P He told me he'd help me pay for my first doll, seeing as how the one I won isn't technically acceptable here (she's made of vinyl instead of resin)

    8. My husband is an artist, so he enjoys looking at the dolls with me. He wants an Iplehouse girl for himself! ^.^ He always helps me with restringing and putting on parts. He is very anal about not messing up their wigs or touching their faces, or messing with their blushing. It is really cute sometimes!

    9. My boyfriend has recently acknowledged that he WILL get a doll in the future!

      MISSION SUCCESS

      *fist pump*

    10. My hubby is on DoA- Nealius87 :)

-He's always been supportive of the hobby before he collected dolls. He thought they were cool (since he's an artist and loves the artistic side of the hobby) and of course liked my cute girls at the time lol. He's into MTG and recently I told him he should write about characters from it, and then get dolls! Soo, now he has 5 dolls (1 on the way) and he's very into the hobby now! I'm so happy I can share my hobby with him!

-We both think that when you're with someone, you should at least respect their hobbies. Well, for us, we share the same hobbies now! I play MTG, video games now, and he collects dolls. Well, he can't sew or crochet though lol. ;)

    11. My fiance (husband for 10 days) does not have much against my doll hobby. Sometimes he even helps me with styling or taking a pictures. But generally I have my hobby and he had his, and we're happy because we are able to talk and be glad of both ^_^

    12. My other half is quite happy with my hobby, and supports my interest, and even likes to look at a couple of mine. He understands where I'm coming from with them, and their value to me, and is more than willing to help out with stuff if I need it. :)

    13. I was real nervous when I told my boyfriend about getting my first bjd, but he helped me pick her out and everything. Now she is at home for 7 years... ANd he help me to found other dolls, and stuff! He just wants to make me happy and he knows that the dolls do that.

    14. My boyfriend of 2 and a half years thinks my soom glot is kinda cute but a little creepy but he was none to thrilled about the cost. He is very, very concerened about money even though i never ever would ask him to buy me something this expensive, and even though t of my doll money comes from my scale and chainmail sales he still gets rather upset with me. This is why he has yet to find out about my second doll that i purchsed shortly after my first. I personally dont see anything wrong with buying the dolls so long as I am continuing to pay my bills, but what can I do. I am hoping over time he will become more accepting of them and maybe even show some interest.

    15. I'm VERY new to BJD's, and my addiction is all due to Realpuki Soso, I don't have her yet, but will one day,(As soon as I can find a natural skin for sale!!!!!! Money set aside and waiting.) My husband, thinks she's cute, but mostly I think he gets a kick out of seeing how excited I am over her. I've already started making her clothes, and accessories are being planned, and she's already whispered her name to me over the miles. Lala. (La, a note to follow so.) ;)

DDE had one in stock a couple days ago, I couldn't believe my eyes, I bought her, and was SOOOOOOOO EXCITED! I dreampt about her all night, and all the next. But then I got an email from them, saying they hadn't any left to fill my order. :( I of course, was bumbed, but there is no way I'm giving up my search.

My husband, I think, was even more broken-hearted about it than I was. He consoled me first thing when he walked in the door from work.

But none the less! I'll keep looking until I find her!

    16. Love this! Maybe I can be so lucky one day!

    17. My boyfriend is rather accepting, but we both know the cost means I won't be buying more than 3.. Maybe.. (Tehehe) I have one and I'm waiting for another. He knows me well (the fact I don't think they're like my little children or they talk to me) so doesn't see it as creepy. He likes the creativity of it, all the customising, face-ups, modifications and so on, and fully supports me with ball joint dolls! :)

    18. My boyfriend is a bit creeped out by Ein, but he doesn't mind him ^^ But now that I'm getting another one soon and he's seen how excited and happy I am about it he's really happy for me. I think he'll like my new doll a lot more, and hopefully he'll eventually warm up to Ein. He's not worried about the money, he's terrible with money and tends to spend too much. I'm always talking him out of buying things so he can save it for more important things XD Silly boy.

    19. My boyfriend of two years accepts that I collect BJD dolls. He is understanding because we both have similar interest in things like anime, video games, cosplaying, and going to conventions. You see my boyfriend collects video games so I collect BJD dolls. So we have a understanding. My boyfriend know he cannot cosplay with me all the time so the BJD dolls I dress are in costumes my boyfriend cannot wear.

    20. Mr. Careese is a horrible enabler. No he's not into the hobby himself and doesn't want to be, but when I say, "Oh it's so pretty can I have it?" The answer is commonly yes if he can tell I really want it. I think he knows I wouldn't ask if it was outside our means.
