1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Your postman's opinion?

Jul 9, 2005

    1. I love this thread! My postman was pleasantly surprised to know he was bringing me a new 'kid on the block', it was apparent by the box size (large!) & weight (light!) that it was a special delivery! So I asked if he minded if I got my camera and took some pix of him delivering the box from his truck. LOL He didn't mind at all! He had become used to delivering some dolls but this was indeed a special occasion!

It made us fast friends, but he seems like a nice guy anytime of the day! I got pictures of my Unidoll Feanor being delivered (pardon the pun!) and they are keepers!

Thanks for letting me share! Great stories you all!

    2. After I chased my postman down with my car to get my Narae, he probably knows me as the crazy doll lady. I've also called him early in the AM not to have dolls I know are coming held at the PO so I can pick the doll up on my way home from work and not wait until next day. However, it's gotten to the point that whenever a big box is being delivered in my neighborhood, he just assumes it's for me.

    3. The mailperson is different almost daily here, and the time that our mail arrives also changes daily. The regular mail people must think I'm crazy because I'm often in PJs and bare foot when I step out to sign for registered items. I've only once been home when a big doll was delivered, because I'm usually at school. I'm not the worlds biggest fan of the parcel deliverers because they rarely fill out the You've Missed a Parcel form correctly/at all.

The people at the post office probably think I'm crazy. I'm in there quite often. I remember once when the woman behind the desk asked what I was sending she looked shocked when I said it was a doll. She then said "That's a big doll!" They also laugh when I say I'm sending out heads xD

    4. I haven't read this entire post but the ones I have are so funny. My delivery postman knows I'm getting dolls and when I am shipping them out. He likes to chat but I work during the day and usually don't see him.

Before I got a postal scale and was selling off older non-BJD dolls I went to the local post office at least once or twice a week. One lady in particular asked about the dolls and I even let her know about sale prices and things. But you can't really talk much if there is a line of people behind you waiting to be served. LOL

    5. i moved house between getting the two dolls i have, so it wasn't the same postman. ;__; the postman at my old house could tell i was excited but i kind of just grabbed the boxed and closed the door and ran to my room with it so he didn't get an explanation. xD
i was at college when my other doll arrived and my parents picked him up from the post office so i didn't get to talk to the post people.

    6. I chased mine down in a Subway parking lot. ^^" I was too excited to tell him WHAT the big box was, and he was in too much of a hurry to ask, but I haven't seen him since (I feel like that is my fault u_u"). But then again, I'm not home when the mail comes.

    7. I ship all of my boxes to work, because we always have a receptionist there to sign for them. Danny is our daily postman, and he is SO NICE and friendly! I always babble to him when I'm expecting boxes, and he's so sweet about all of my questions (how can I get my box on SATURDAY when no one's at the OFFICE?!)

    8. I actually have had a good relationship with my postal carrier in Australia, this wonderful French man delivers my mail, is often greeted at the door with dolls in tow, and knows how to keep my cat inside, or he did till I moved to the US. Now I have this oddly wonderful scruffy fellow who just marvels at the number of packages we get (I live with friends so someone is ALWAYS getting a package, often very large cumbersome ones)

    9. My postman and I have a cool relationship xD Really.
There was this day that I just got out of the shower, and he stood for the door. I yelled at him that he needed to wait a few seconds. He did. I came downstairs and he was smoking a cigarette xD .. So I couldn't help myself to smoke one myself too xD
He asked me why I was so exited for that package. So I explained him a little. Now every time he delivers something he asks for which doll it is! xD It's so awesome.

    10. Our postal service (TNT) uses couriers they hire for the packages. So yea I have the same guy delivering for several years now. Before I was into BJDs I ordered a lot of stuff through the internet. So I saw him a lot before. He always say you got fanmail from the USA or Japan. Wouldnt it be cheaper to live there. I reply to him that I wouldnt be able to see my favorite package man anymore lol.

Then the switch came over to BJDs. And I see him coming up far with a huge package lugging. My street is dead end and he cant drive up all the way to my house. Sometimes when I am upstairs and he rings I just shoot out of the window for him to wait for me and come running down. When I get a slip that he dropped by when I was out or working it includes his cellnumber so I can call him to drop by at the end of the day so I dont need to wait till tomorrow. Best guy ever!

    11. Hmmm my postman is one of my exes best freinds. I dont delight in him looking at the parcel espcially when it has "Doll" written on the invoice. It can get a little awkard when I have to sign for it. He gives me a look as if to say "why are you buying dolls?" I dont think he would say anything to my exe. Do postmans have like a hypocratic oath? lol

    12. I've never had a doll delivered, but we do get atleast one package a month. and he always just drops it off, lets us sign and walks away without talking..

I'm curious what they would say if i get my doll

    13. Sadly I don't have a single postman that delivers to my house... but working at the post office I always notice people who constantly get packages all the time (i.e. the man who always giggles because his new model cars have arrived ;) )

I would love to have what some of you have with your postmen... the most I get is a grunt and a "sign here".

    14. My postman is awesome! His daughter and my son are in the same class together, and we always joke around about customs taxes. (Because we both think it highway robbery!) Like when he has a big box he'll tease me and say there's a €500 tax on it.. ;)
I showed him my dolls, but he doesn't really "get it", or ask me about them but that's just fine with me. :)

He got mauled by a dog a month ago... typical! Thank goodness he's ok now.

    15. Yes it is highway robbery those taxes -____- , and only because they want to protect the producers in our country. But they dont make dolls here so why slap them with high fees!

Glad to hear your postman is ok after that incident with the dog.

    16. I don't know who is my postman since all the post come when Im at work, but I do strongly dislike my post office (post in shop office actually) They send my items to my father (a 15h long drive from me) shipp my items to the wrong city's and don't leave a notice when I get something....so that I and up with a "you items is going to be shipped back if you don't pick it up within 1 day" notice. And it don't help me that I have a ongoing fight with one of the office ladys (she don't help, is rude and lie) but whenever I drop in to get something she sees me and walks away (sorting bread, fruit or just ignoring me) And I can live with that, I just get one of the other staff to get my post

    17. When I got mine, my postwoman asked if I was buying a gun.
      :sweat
      Quite the opposite

    18. I live in a small town, so the post office staff know everybody (our kids went to school together) --they know who mails out bees(local beekeeper), who mails out frogs(lab supply, they raise them in their basement!), and who gets dollie stuff:) A trip to the PO is usually a chance to gossip, so everyone stands around and yaks. I did trip up one PO staffer once when I got a big square box and he asked what was in it, and I said with a huge grin, "A head!" and he did a classic double-take.. until he remembered the dolls!
But I also mail out art stuff all the time too, so I've always had a good relationship with them even before I got the doll bug.

    19. My former postman was fabulous! He was a collector himself, of beer steins, & knew that I didn't want to wait for packages. So when one required a signiture & I wasn't available, he'd sign it for me & leave it. (Please note, my back porch isn't a very likely place for anybody to even be around yet alone to steal froom.) We also used to get into long chats about various collecting & merits of Ebay. I loved the guy.

Well, there were some problems & he was taken off my route. So far the new guy seems very nice & always laughs with me when a bundle of stuff arrives. I haven't quite gotten him trained to simply sign the packages for me but I think that's coming. He also arrives much earlier in the day so that's a big plus when I'm waiting for something. He'll often ask what I do with the dolls, whether I'm buying for resale or for myself.

And they've both gone way beyond the call of duty. I have a 300' gravel driveway that's often impassable in winter & they've both made the snowy trek up to the house to deliver parcels. Sometimes when my car is stuck at the bottom of the driveway, I'll hear them pull up & just holler down to leave the package on the hood of the car & I'll come right down to get it. I don't want them to slip on the ice & get hurt.

And at the post office itself, I practically know the regulars by name. They're all super helpful & patient with any questions I have. We always have a nice little chat while I'm sending things out. I guess those ae the advantages of living in a small town.

    20. They have yet to catch on...
But they have gave me curious looks when a large package appears from customs. XD
