Your postman's opinion?

Jul 9, 2005

    1. My only bjd acquaintance I have with my postman is wishing he'd stop throwing my boxes onto the porch.

If I'm home, I can hear the thump when he drops off a package, and when I get home and see a package, I can still hear the thump in my head. I'm almost relieved when I get the package slip to pick up my brood from the post office. At least I'm not hearing that thump!

    2. OMG! :x How ignorant! I hope she's now working in a dead-letter office in some basement somewhere.

But, yeah, the topic... When I went to the post office to pick up my Souldoll Chiron, I was so excited that I opened him up right there at the desk where you fill out your envelopes. (Luckily there was no line at the time...) Needless to say, the post-mistress got a big kick out of it. She thought the doll was gorgeous, and she said that she was just happy that a package could make someone so happy.

    3. I haven't recieved a doll box yet but my postman was so nice. He would bring the box right up to the door always smiling. He never asks what's in it but he always looks at me funny from all the places i buy from. Also if i'm not home and it's something he could leave at the doorstep he always wraps the box in a plastic bag so that if it rains the box won't get wet. he was so nice but he retired a few months ago and i'm worried about how my doll will work out with my new postman. Only plus so far old postman would come at 4:00pm and new postman comes at 10:00am. Which means more time to play with my doll on the first day :). Well I hope the new one is nce when i get a package in a month.

    4. everytime we pick up a doll at our customs the people working there first send strange looks. and then they start to remember we've been there before. they always say we should brng one of our dolls when we "visit" them next time so that they can see wat happened to the nude bodys. I guess they think we're really strange :)

    5. I miss the post office ladies from my old place... They were nice and helpful, and always laughed when I came with the "insane-look" on my face, which meant I was waiting for a big package. When I got my unidoll Feanor, one of them even drove me to the UPS office to pick it up, and drove me home too!

The postman here probably hadnt seen a crazier lady when I said I had been waiting since 09:30 for him (and it was 12:05 when he came) and I was jumping around in a big pink tu-tu like some odd ballerina. :sweat He came back with the change, since he didnt have it when I got the package, and I was airing the box when he came back. I said something about the package contained gas, and he made that funny shocked face, lol!

I wanna order more dolls, so I can play with the post people. :aheartbea

    6. Since my postman always delivers the post when I'm out, so at the post office with my slip, it's safe to say that they're always wondering "Why are you picking up large packages with alarming regularity?" :D

    7. The ladies that used to work in my post office loved to see my dolls. I'd usually bring a yo with me when I brought packages in so they could see some of the types of stuff I was sending out and receiving.

My normal post-man doesn't really look at me all too weird, but he's usually snickering a bit when I'm waiting outside the apartment building for him so he doesn't have to walk back out to his truck. XD

    8. I have the coolest postman in the world. I sweet older gentlemen who takes the time to leave our packages on our back porch if we aren't home, so we don't have to make a trip out to the post office x3

Sadly, I've only had one doll experience with him and he didn't really know. :sweat

Replay of the day Kori arrived:

Me: *rushes to front door when I see the post man coming up the walk with a large, doll shaped package*
      Him: Good afternoon!
Me: *squees* Hello~ *eyeing box he set on the ground*
Him: If you could sign this...
Me: *whilst scribbling signature* Oh my god Mom! He's here!
Him: *strange look* Thankyou, *hands over box* What is-
      Me: *screams and runs inside*
Mom: He was still talking to you...

Yea, I was a bit excited...snow day and all that :3 I can't wait until I get my next doll, I'd love to see his reaction to the bigger box. Hopefully I can politely finish our conversation before slamming the door in his face...:sweat

    9. Hmmm. I'm married to one postal person (a carrier -- walks 6-8 miles a day -- he's one of the good ones). My former neighborhood carrier was absolutely fantastic. He used to tease me when there was another large box -- he'd say, "But Julie, you said you were slowing down on the resin kid acquisitions." I'm still training the new guy in, so the jury's out on him.

    10. My old post0man probably thought I was crazy. I'd keep track of the dolls (and/or doll stuff) and be ready at the door when I knew they were getting delivered. He always seemed a little startled when I'd open the door before he even got onto the porch properly.

    11. I remember when my first girl arrived, I was so excited, I ran to the door when I saw the long, rectangular box in my postman's arms. Now, I'm rather short, so I was basically jumping up and down, pawing at the box. I signed my name quickly, almost snatching the paper from his hands. He looked incredibly amused and asked quite gently, laughingly, "Now, are you sure you want this box here?" I almost panicked, I was that excited, before I realized he was joking! :) Most of the postal workers I know are all rather nice.

    12. Oh man, my postman ROCKS. See, I live a couple blocks away from my grandfather, who has the same postman. My grandfather is 87 and can't walk very far, so the post man brings his mail into the garage, thus getting to know our family quite well. =) So one day I was visiting my grandfather when he dropped off the mail and left. I went inside the house and came back out to find that the postman came back to his house to drop my doll off since he knew I wasn't home and didn't want to leave it on the porch. =D He was all "Oh! I know this is one of your dolls, so I brought it'd here so you could personally receive it!" He's awesome.

On another note... I was selling a doll once and had to get a big box from work to ship it in. Well, I worked at a pet store and the box I chose said LIVE FISH on the side. XD I took it to the post office and the man at the counter was so confused, trying to tell me I can't just ship live fish. He was even more startled when it was a doll, then when I wanted to insure it for $200. XD Oh, that was quite the experience.

    13. My postmen are pretty cordial with me--I see them regularly and they're nice. They don't make inquiries about what I'm doing with dolls generally.

    14. I tend to have to pick up my box at the post office. And my post office is nice to let us pick up packages before they open the main lobby. So I'm usually dealing with the same lady in the mornings. She's gotten use to seeing me there, and knows they are 'dolls', but hasn't seen them. She was abit shocked by the price of them (as it says on the label the costs). But seems interested, and heck easy for her to find the packages as she knows the general size the boxes are.

    15. During my experiences with my mail carriers, they often comment how big and hefty it is. oh, and they are sincerely careful when it comes to delivering. I don't think that they ever commented on the price. I think they keep that sort of thing to themselves.

    16. the postman who delivers packages here is very nice and thoughtful, (he always is sure to leave packages on the enclosed patio between the main house and my apt on the little table I have there :)), but he's never asked whats in all of the huge boxes that come in, (I recieve a LOT of big boxes these days from comission work). I keep waiting for the day he finally breaks down and asks lol

But the folks who work the desk at the PO here are WONDERFUL! The branch is run by an ex-hippie who still wear his hair very long and very curly and he always decorates the PO seasonally and sometimes brings cookies and/or candies for the customers. He, along with the other employees there, (all super nice), are always curious about what I'm sending out.

    17. I've made friends with my mailman because of all of the doll things from out of the US that need signing for. He doesn't know what all the packages are for, though, and has never asked! But he's super nice, and always likes to have a chat. I recently sent him a card because his little niece just had surgery :( .

I wish I could say the same for the local post office workers - those people are just downright nasty. Very un-friendly and cold, not helpful, short-tempered... For this reason, I use the Newbury post office about 15 minutes away for all of my shipping (It's right on the way to the barn where I board my horses) because the people there are MUCH nicer!

    18. My postman never comments on what's in my packages but he has become best friends with my dog.

    19. My postman doesn't really care. :\ It's when I go to the post office to pick up boxes do I get weird stares from people behind the counter. XD The lady behind the counter always look at me funny, as if I'm some kind of illegal dealer. And the manager of the branch always sighs and shakes his head as he gives me my parcels. My parcels are always 'unusual', as in unusual in the size. xD

    20. I recently bought a wig and kimono before purchasing my doll, so they'll be arriving first. I can't wait to see what the people down at the store have to say when I start jumping around and tearing the box open for a wig xD

I have no doubt they'll think I'm mad. Most people in town already think so (I live in a very small town) xD
