It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.Dismiss Notice

Kanis-Augen
Kanis Augen is located Lauscha, Germany. This company is credited for their glass eyes with a very realistic appearance.
History
Lauscha, Germany has a long history in regards to glass crafts. It is in this very city in the early nineteenth century that techniques for creating realistic glass eyes for humans was developed; eventually these techniques would be used for doll eyes as well. The company Kanis Augen even has it's own history with many generations that have produced glass eyes of many varieties: simple and exquisite doll eyes and human eyes. Fritz Greiner-Petter developed techniques for these realistic doll eyes combining the arts of simple doll eyes that his parents made, and the lifelike human eyes that his brother and sister crafted. For a time, his craft was inhibited due to the wars that ravished Europe, and for the lack of popularity for dolls with glass eyes during the mid-twentieth century. During this period, he focused on eyes for teddy bears and other stuffed animals since glass eyes were not in nearly the demand that they were at the beginning of the century. To this day, creating glass doll eyes remains a family trade.
