1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do/Did you keep your very first doll? Or will you sell it?

Aug 12, 2009

    1. It's really interesting to see the mix of opinions here..

      I did, and didn't sell my first doll. When I got him, he came with two heads as a special edition - So I sold the sleeping version. I still have my CP Harang on his original body, and even though he is now chunky and poses in maybe half the positions of my other dolls, I still can't even upgrade his body. I've had him for 8 years, taken him to Uni and moved house with him twice since then.

    2. My first human bjd (not cats etc.) was a cheap free-faceup-and-shipping $100-ish Doll-Love Baby from Alice's Collection. Her faceup's chipped and her eyelashes are weird and her lips are painted unevenly and she's not that pretty and I love her and I'm never getting rid of my baby. ^^

    3. Yes I still have very first doll and she sits in the middle of my collection

    4. My first doll was a gift from my boyfriend, and I think it would be insanely difficult to part with her, not only because she's so cute but mostly because she reminds me of the reason I joined the hobby and also because I think it would hurt my boyfriend if I sold her :( Although to be honest, there are some other sculpts that I adore even more than her, I would probably never sell her to afford one of them. I'd definitely turn to my other dolls first if I really needed funds

    5. Hmm. I joined DOA in 07,
      (so I guess I got my first doll in either 07 or 08).
      I remember it was a Souldoll Lupinus head I put on a non Souldoll body. I did this because I prefered a softer body to the muscular Souldoll one. Body and head were both new, the colors didn't match, and the neck hole and neck weren't compatible. Haha I was so upset I spent so much money on something that didn't work.... Then I got a dremmel tool, some sand paper, and paint and pastels and made it work. Named him Llewelyn.

      I have been out of the hobby for a while (a couple years I think) and sold several dolls but not Llew. I don't think I could sell my first (or second) doll. My first ABJD was my first big, totally frivolous purchase that I couldn't justify to anyone who asked "why?" yet bought anyway because I wanted it. ABJDs would serve as my main artistic outlet for years.
      I think I'll fetch Llew from my parents' house next weekend and rework him into something new. He's been hibernating too long. Hehe

    6. I only have one doll, my first doll, right now. And I don't have projects for that many dolls too.

      Tbh I don't see myself selling any of my dolls. I kind of have a problem where I accumulate a loooot of stuff, I can't throw away/sell my stuff in general.><;

    7. My first doll also has the first face up I ever did on it- It also has a special tattoo, there as a moment of a pet that passed away. Because it doesn't have a lot of monetary worth, and a lot of sentimental value, I probably won't ever sell it.

    8. I'm definitely keeping my first doll! He's been through like 3 personalities and heading towards his fourth but I can't ever get rid of him.

    9. I still have my first doll I brought him in 2009 and he's in perfect condition I love him when I first got him I didn't know he was a 63 cm doll I was so surprised by how big he was and I loved him so much he is still with me to this day and I plan on buying another one in the future.

    10. Let's continue in a new thread: Part 2 !

      :)
