1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Horses for larger dolls

Sep 12, 2006

    1. Ipledreamer, he looks amazing! Please post a pic when he's done, with the doll :D <3

    2. Looks promising ! Good luck for the work though !
Would never have though to use a rock horse as a doll horse, great idea !

    3. Well, we shall see...I am really astonished that there is hardly anything to find in the web. I found out that these type of horses were exported in larger quantities from eastern to western Germany.

Well, I will pick him up next weekend. It may take a while till I get to him, but if you like I can open a project thread in the Workshop-forum.

    5. Same here, I would totally follow that thread :D Please let us know :D

    6. that's Ara. No idea about the horse though .... I think she said something about it in the Granado thread when the contest winners were announced, but I can't remember.

    7. Thank you Jany.
I am currently on her deviantart where she says it was her girlfriend who bought it for only 10€. I am not jealous at all ! XD
More seriously, it is the same kind of horse as one of mine but i didn't know there could be some this huge.

    8. I've seen that horse in real life and yes, it is a damn huge beast XD I don't think I've ever seen something similar here in Germany tbh

    9. Ive seen similar horses around here (USA) but theyre always much smaller, and their anatomy is often extremely deformed, as if made by a sculptor who has seen deer and sheep but never gotten a good look at an actual living horse.

    10. Ah it looks like one of those big egyption ones of carved wood covered in leather, I have several camels like that. You sometimes find them at boutique housewares and furniture stores outside of the middle east.

    11. I want at least one, possibly two depending on the overall cost.

    12. Sorry, totally forgot to post my project thread: https://denofangels.com/threads/a-friesian-stallion-for-70-cms-in-the-making-alegria.720093/

I was contemplating Nahar. But for one, he is an Arabian, and you cannot successfully turn an Arabian into a baroque horse. And the shipping to Germany would have killed me. From what I have read in model horse forums, he is quite heavy...and big.
I was waiting for the Friesian or knight's destrier to be finished by the same sculptor, but somehow this has not happened until now. Alas, I think I am quite happy with my ex-rocking-horse.

    13. Very cool project, Ipledreamer! Good finding such a good sized horse to start with. 'Can't wait to see the finish! :)

    14. Is there any word on this? My HID Iplehouse Khal Drogo needs a horse. My Daenerys (EID Iplehouse Raffine) needs her silver steed. By the way, $125 shipping for something that big is less than I thought it would be.

In the meantime, I am looking into horse alternatives. I have a sewing pattern for a realistic horse that I will need to scale up, and I am looking into needle felting as well for the realism.

    15. They wouldn't be good for bigger SD dolls, but some of the Breyer (Reeves Int'l) model horses might be a good size for an MSD. I work at a store that sells Breyer. They are more on the expensive side though...

    16. Breyer horses are 1:9/1:10 scale, so they are not even large enough for Barbies. You could use them e.g. for PukiPukis, but not even as ponies for 40 cm dolls.

You could rather have them as playhorses for 70 cm dolls.

    17. Does anyone happen to know what happened to the Domuya company? Back in 2010 they released a gorgeous jointed horse "Nightmare" with fantasy armor, but all the webpages for it seem to be dead now. Here is the old thread here on DoA. Googling for photos turns up some real loveliness.

    18. They are very much defunct and gone, I'm afraid, as of a few years ago. Shortly after the Nightmare horse, actually.
