SoulDoll Zenith Discussion ~ Part II

Souldoll confirmed that Shiva qualifies for the winter event clothes/10% discount, though you'll need to have an account with them to apply the event coupons. I've also asked them if it would be possible to order the other Zenith girl hands in the special resin colors. Despite having four hands, all of Shiva's are very similar and it'd be nice to have some variety.

 

The different Zenith hands have been made for the new body, so they might not fit perfectly on the old body that Shiva has. There is actually a mention about this on the hand parts' pages. I don't know if there is a big difference between the wrist size or something, it could also be that the fit is fine and Souldoll just wants to be extra careful and make sure that the customers know that the hands were not meant for the old body? Perhaps Souldoll will let you know about it once they answer to your question

 

That's actually a great idea... I wonder if their current grey resin would match my old Shiva. Her hands are all slightly different (they're like modified versions of the original Zenith hands + the original hands with nails), but I'd love a sword holding hand or something I could use for her to grab something... Please let us know what they say about the special skin tones. :3

 

Thanks s1257 The fact that Souldoll's resin is pretty white makes me feel more comfortable with the idea of ordering a doll in it - if it started off really creamy then I'd be concerned about how it was going to look in the end.
I seem to have some kind of white resin paranoia; I'm always hyper worried it's going to turn buttery yellow and stain ridiculously easy despite being told it won't; it's bizarre really!

Good thinking Kimchi. I'd forgotten about getting extra hands but it might be a good idea to get some at the same time as the doll itself, especially if going for the fantasy coloured resins.

I once asked a bjd company if the hands from one of their newer bodies would fit one of their older ones, and I was told they wouldn't. I then found out from owners and flickr photos that they would physically fit just fine.
I wouldn't have thought there could be that much difference between the wrists of each Zenith body. Souldoll might say no because in their eyes the hands don't 'fit' as they'd imagined them, i.e. the ball is larger/smaller or the hand isn't the same size as the original; I think there's probably a bit of personal preference at play.

 

Yup, I've had similar experiences too. It's possible that someone has complained about the fit and then the company has added the disclaimer about the possibility of the hands not fitting perfectly to avoid getting more complaints...? Or then they just want to say that hey, this was originally not meant for this body, so don't blame us for any possible problems if you buy it. But anyway, IF Souldoll says no to selling the extra hands in the special colors, this might be the reason

 

Ooooh, thank you, that's a useful titbit... My Madalyn is on the older double-jointed body, so it's good to know I could get her the newer hands to have more gesturing options.

 

So here's Souldoll's somewhat mysterious response to the hands question (from Shiva's DoA news thread) :

"You can add zenith girl hands in mint blue skin on Shiva order if you purchase Shiva doll."

If those are supposed to be instructions, they're not very good. I figure after I place my order I'll just post on the Q&A if I can add the specific option hands I want in mint blue to my current order.

 

Good to hear that Souldoll allows you to get the hands! (Apparently they do fit fine on the older body after all then XD) I guess you should post on the Q&A and ask for more specific instructions on what to do :3

 

Oh my, I would be so happy if I could buy optional hands for my Shiva!
I asked on souldoll board if it was possible. No I hope it will be a yes!

 

Alright, I placed my order for a four-armed, mint blue Bella! I'm waiting to pay until after Souldoll responds to my Q&A about adding the optional hands in mint blue and gives me a new total. I'll let you all know if it all works out or if they tell me that, "no, actually we can't give you the option hands in that color."

EDIT: Yep, inquiring on the Q&A board worked out fine! For anyone else interested, a single pair of hands in the mint blue resin came out to $40 USD.

 

@Kimchi - that's weakening my resolve to not buy another doll for ...ummm months.
did you place your order, then post in the QA what you wanted and they added it to your order?

does anyone have Delmia? I'm intrigued by the HC version.

oh...I'm in trouble.

 

I placed my order and finished checkout, but didn't pay. So, my order is currently listed as "Credit Card/Paypal Payment Incompletd/Pending." I then posted on the Q&A:

"I just placed an order for a mint blue Bella on 4-arms Shiva body (order # here). I would like to add Zenith girl hands type 3 in mint blue to this order. Could you please let me know my new total so I can send payment?"

And Souldoll responded:

"Thank you for your order. The price of 1 pair of hands(ver.3) in mint blue is 40$. Please pay the cost with your total amount."

So I'll just Paypal the current total + $40. The extra hands haven't actually been added to my order, so I'm going to make a note of them in the Paypal payment description to make extra certain they remember. At current, the extra hands don't actually show up on my order sheet, so I don't know if they'll edit it after I pay.

 

Just a heads-up that after Souldoll confirmed my payment they added this to the "Request of customer" box on my order sheet: "<admin check> zenith girl hands ver. 3 (mint blue) is added." So the extra hands will show up in your order sheet but only as an added note.

 

Can confirm that when you ask for extras, they add it as a note to your order as well as the amount you paid. They did this when I asked for the human version clothes for my centaur Serena, before you could order them separately. ^^

That mint blue is gorgeous...unfortunately my dolly budget is tapped out for awhile. I look forward to seeing everyone's though!

 

@petiteballerine if you haven't seen them already, there are some owner photos of Delmia on the Souldoll Zenith girls thread very near to the beginning of the thread. FYI, they're all of her blank.

I'm buckling myself in for a long wait! Seems current wait times are 3-4 months, but with the odd resin tone and potential holiday/new years delays I'm going to expect 6 months and be pleasantly surprised with anything shorter. I'm currently working on securing bits and bobs for my girl. I found these beautiful pink opal Oscar Doll eyes from a domestic dealer. I'm hoping they look as good in person. I'm thinking her concept will be a butterfly lady, so I'm waiting on an Etsy artist to reopen orders so I can get a pair of wings I think will fit her perfectly! Her aesthetics are already planned and I have her clothes. All that's really left is finding a short, sakura pink wig, shoes, and a name!

 

@Kimchi - thanks for the info on Delmia. I can now eliminate her from the competition. unpainted is the best way to see a doll.

 

Congrats to everyone that's able to order Shiva/any girl on the body! It's really great of Souldoll.
I'm not sure if they'd sell me the hands in grey skin without a doll order, but the price is pretty steep and the resin might not match, so my girl will have to do with the hands she already has. I've changed the finger positions in some of them anyway so they're not all the same. Would've loved a proper sword holding hand but oh well, maybe she doesn't need to hold anything that requires the hand. :P The fit of the new hands is good but the new ones have a different shape ball joint and they're a bit skinnier in a way, so I'm not sure if they would've matched perfectly anyway.

@Yenna I debated also getting the sword-holding hands and the Aina hand for my new girl, but then I thought about how I'd have to blush and paint all those hands and I suddenly felt content with just the one optional pair.

 

@Kimchi I feel you. I have two pairs for my other girl and I just removed the old manicure from those. No idea when I'll have the energy to re-manicure them. Also, the Aina hand wouldn't have matched the Shiva hands anyway, because they have long nails and the Aina one doesn't. The human torso comes with short nails on the Shiva body too, though.
