1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Mature-looking Mini discussion

Apr 20, 2006

    1. A lot of the slim MSD dolls tend to have a more mature look.

You might want to start by looking at Souldoll Soulkids, Luts Model Delfs, Withdoll, and Fairyland Minifees. These companies tend to have the mature slim MSD body and a range of heads to choose from, from childlike to very mature and womanly.

I'm sure others can add to the list as well.

I know that Sadol also has a beautiful and mature MSD body, but I am not sure if the heads are what you'd prefer.

    2. You should check out Racoon Doll and Iplehouse, they have realistic and mature msd sculpts.

    3. @Musume has some really wonderful lists for people who want less childish minis. HERE is their list of Mature Minis who have smaller heads than normal msds but are not super realistic and HERE is their list of Realistic Minis.

I myself have some Luts Model Delfs and some Withdolls and I absolutely adore them <3 <3 <3

    4. I've been collecting 1/4 size BJDs for a few year now and my
intent is to have them be Late teen through young adult.
Women are easy! :) One of my favorites is Angel of Dream "Lan"
but as has been noted, some of the Iplehouse JIDs are satisfactory.

There are several "BJD"s that are best classified as Fashion Dolls
rather than classic BJDs in that they have much smaller heads than
classic ABJDs. My boys take 7/8 or 6/7 wigs. The fashion dolls such
as Iplehouse FIDs (Fashion Iplehouse Dolls) take 5/6. They are
arguably more realistic than the typical BJD so it's a matter of taste.
If you want maturity and the smaller head doesn't bother you then
you might want to look at the resin fashBut such as Jamieshow.men.

But I digress. Mature 1/4 size men. There are a few options. Some
of the Iplehouse JID boys make reasonable men, especially if you
have a custom face up with a bit of facial hair. Makes an unelievable
difference and that comment holds for all of these dolls. Look at
Luts Model Doll. Wonderful masculine bodies and though the sculpts
seem a bit boyish they work. Souldoll offers a couple of choices.
A few of the Soulkid sculpts have some maturity but do look beyond
the atrociously feminine attire that Souldoll poses them in. I have
a Soulkid boy Jonny that makes a great young man. Souldoll also
makes the Vito boy line. Very mature but at 50cm he'll sort of tower
over a minifee girl. Finally I'll mention Angel of Dream again. Their
bodies are nice and affordable. Some of their sculpts are worth
      considering (Wang Zi?)

    5. These ideas really help, all my dolls are msd size. Not comfortable with larger size.

    6. I haven't seen truer words! Randor and Shaun would look so good if they weren't dressed in drag

    7. They all are made by different companies but we do have threads for all three

    8. Yes, they are. But due to their similar measurements, I think it would be nice to have a single thread for all these dolls. If they are to stand side by side, they are like cousins and siblings. :3nodding:

    9. That's a great idea! It would be great to have a list of all the dolls in this size range, as there are more all the time - many companies have started "shrinking down" their SD dolls to this MSD fashion size.
So far, here is my (probably incomplete) list of dolls in this scale - perhaps you could edit the first post to have a list up the top? I've only included dolls with a mature body and the smaller heads.

      Iplehouse FID
      Sartoriaj
      Raccoondoll
Ringdoll (they only have three sculpts right now: Raymond 2.0, Zhou Yu and Anubis has just been released)
Telesthesia and Dragon (they have 6 different scaled down SD bodies)
Dikadoll (they also have several scaled down bodies at about 51cm)
For both Dikadoll and Telesthesia and Dragon, you can order the bodies from Alice's Collections or Legendoll, but you have to write and request the head when you order the body - a bit complicated, hopefully they make it so you can just order the doll properly in future! (Also you can order the heads separately).
Granado (I think? They have more and more dolls in that scale but I haven't seen any comparison pics)
Huajing have released a scaled down "uncle" body. Not sure what heads would work with it though.
Island Doll Hua Island Long Qingzi is 48cm and looks like he'd be in scale.
Dollzone have released a 51cm Special Boy Body (B45-021) but no in scale heads as far as I can see.
Dream Valley also have some bodies in that 51cm scale but no in scale heads either.

I should also mention in scale children: so far only Raccoondoll have released any, with the Girl line (33cm) and the Mini line (21cm) Sartoriaj have also done some "Teen" dolls but they are almost the same size as the adults, with slightly younger looking face sculpts.

And so this isn't just a giant wall of text - here is a comparison of an Iplehouse boy on the model body (left), a Ringdoll Zhou Yu (center) and a Sartoriaj on the 51Ath body. (right).

The Zhou Yu has quite a small head but someone who owns one told me the Raymond head is a bit bigger, so a similar size to the FID. No idea what any future releases will be like.

If anyone else has comparison pics, it would be great to see them all posted together in this thread, I think!

    10. Wow! Such a great comparison. This is so helpful. And I did not know, there are so many fashion MSDs out there. I think Luts Doll has one too, they have the MDF51. :love

    11. Ooh, let me add the Fairyland Chicline dolls and the IoS UNITOT line to the list! I have both, but sadly they don't work well together - the UNITOT has a much bigger head, albeit not as large as a Minifee's.

I miss the Chiclines so much.

    12. What I would love to know is are there female adult MSD's where I can just buy the head? I swear, if Iplehouse or SartoriaJ would let me buy the heads alone, I would give them so much money.

    13. Oh yes, I forgot about the Model Delfs!!! A few of the original Model Delfs have the smaller heads too - Lazuli is one, they say on each listing the head size - not sure about the others, but I've seen a picture of her that looked in scale, she was just a bit shorter than the FID. But the Model Delf 51 look much more in scale.

Hmm, I used to have Chicline and they were a lot smaller than the FID (etc), I don't think they'd really be in the same scale - although there is some smaller Fashion scale dolls that might work I guess, like the Granado 29/30 range? Maybe? They do have those proportions though, that's for sure!

Oh I wish they would sell the heads separately too!!! But good news - Raccoondoll do sell them! Only a very limited range unfortunately - just Sleepy Eyed Laetitia, Dreaming Gene, Smiling Gene, and Dreaming Lucy.

Which is why I own a ridiculous amount of Laetitia hybrids - every time a new doll didn't quite work for me but I wanted to keep that body type for sewing purposes (or just because I liked it), I'd buy yet another Sleepy Laetitia head to put on them - it's my favorite sculpt anyway! So lets see, I have one on a JID Glamour body, an FID curvy body, a SartoriaJ Aph body - and two on just the regular Raccoondoll bodies!

Dollmore FMD heads are sometimes sort of in scale for younger, teen dolls - only sometimes as the heads are vastly different sizes! The Thelma heads are size 4-5 and fit okay on slim Mini bodies like Resinsoul. (The other heads are mostly smaller). I've got two Thelmas out getting face-ups at the moment, I plan to make them teen dolls next to my adult FID (etc) dolls.

    14. Unfortunately I don't think there is. As mentioned by @morganatron Raccoon Dolls have limited heads for sale. But it would be great if they sell heads separately; as there are many companies now that sell bodies only for fashion MSDs like impldoll and raccoon doll.

    16. I am having difficulties in attaching photos, they end up broken. :...(

    17. @morganatron: The Granado 29/30 boys are technically mature tinies, not mature MSDs - there's a whole thread for them over in the Tinies forum and everything! The Chiclines are the same height as the Minifees, just with proportionately-sized heads instead of the big ones.:)

    18. Telesthesia and dragon has one, 7.3cm neck circumference.
